After a discussion with my fellow
40k friends, we decided to start up a new grand campaign over the summer months. Because we wanted to keep to keep the teams somewhat believable, I have decided grab my Tau army off the shelf for this campaign. I am also going to use coming up campaign as my motivation to make my first true customized army. Due to horrible storing of the models on my part (shoved in a closest for the better part of 3 years) it will take some team until they are up to good standards.
I decided I wanted to try a breakaway faction of the Tau Empire. The "For the greater good" propaganda backstory for the Tau is to linear for me. I figure if I ran a Farsight type faction army not only will I be ale to make a better back story, but also give me more room for conversions.
The more I think about my what I want my army to look like, i think of custom made crisis suits due to lack of new supplies from the homeworlds. Almost like taking 3 broken suits to make one new one. or perhaps a scavenger type army. This is going to be my first major conversion project and i look forward to all the feedback and help I can get.
Anyways Ill bore you all with walls of text later. Now on to the pics!
Pics are kinds fuzzy due to using a iphone camera. Ill post real pics later this week.
This one is an attempt at the suit on the cover of the codex. I'm also going to magnetize all the suits this time around.
This one I was trying for a rounder head, such as from forge-world. This was my first attempt with using green stuff (for more than just gap filling) and I'm rather pleased. I due need to go back over and smooth it out to get rid of those bumps thou.
Next is a test model for my army color scheme. I'm trying a new way to paint the black armor, and that is with washes. So far I rather like the natural looking shine it gives the armor, instead of just rough edge highlights.
Quality of the painting is not that greater due to me rushing the model.
Anyways that is all for now. Ill try to have more posted later in the week. Thanks in advance for comments, tips, or concerns!
