Does the Thunderwolves must use a particular kind of bases rules respectfully?

If YES which one? The Bike size or a Terminator size?

If NO, may I choose between the 2 just mentioned?

I'm not asking this for a "Canis" use, I'm not gonna using him but only to properly build up my models on their bases.

The only Thunderwolf model we have to go on so far is Canis.

If you're building your own Twolves using something else for the wolves, use whatever size base looks appropriate and few people will have an issue with it.

If you want to stay as close to 'official' as possible, use the 60mm base like Canis has.

Thank you Insaniak, in fact I may choose the base I like.

This open a lot of interesting possibilities, talking about unit coherency and model distances. I'm thinking the 40mm bases to be, maybe, the best.

With no model being out its really fair game on what size base. You could even get a 50mm base and use that. Chances are if and when they come out they will most likely be on bike bases. If you look at the fantasy range, just about every model riding something is on the bike base. But for now its up to you.

Fantasy models also are based on things far smaller than the Canis model, and usually 1 wound. Monstrous mounts are generally on 50x50's, and some on 50x100.

The "real" problem in my hopinion is that being a little under undeveloped and not really present on all the codexes, the CAVALRY unit type in 40k isn't immediately associated to a particular bases size.

If we think at ELITE's infantry (Terminators, Tau Suites, Hive Guards, Ogryns, Mega Armor Orks, etc.) we all immediately think to a 40mm round base.

I don't particulary like bike-size bases unfortunately, even if they are good for tiny passages and tricky movements between scenery/other models.

In fact, reasonably I would really like to fit my "Count-As" Thunderwolves on little 25mm round bases, even if the models copy the Canis dimensions more or less and I don't know if this could be considered legal...

Take this as, "How people are playing them".

Since the pups' codex was released I have not yet seen anyone field TWC on anything less than a 60 mm base, like Canis's.

I play in the fairly large sized "pond" of Southern California, Game Empire and a couple of the local GWs. So it's not like I only play in my mom's basement and only see my cousin/brother Jeb's SW list week in and week out.

After the BroadsideBash, maybe I'll re-look up this thread and report what I saw there.

Since there is no model aside from Canis, it's hard to say. There isn't any RAW answer for you. To keep in line with Canis, I'd suggest either a 50mm or 60mm base (my friend has some resin Thunderwolf Cav from an independent company and they're so big that a 60mm base is needed......granted this has no bearing on GW model, but they're some of the only models out there that would fit the bill).

I would think of them as bloodcrusher sized, and base accordingly.

Big damn wolfies should be on big damn bases

I'm sure they'll eventually get around to releasing them

40mm bases wound require very small Thunderwolves.

I don't see the advantage to it, so you could custom-make a 4' base if you wanted. Just not for Canis.
