Master Necro lvl 4 w. black periapt, cursed book, seed of rebirth (Lore of Vampires)

Necro lvl 2 w. rod of flaming death, dragoncurse stone (Lore of Death)
Necro lvl 2 w. book of arkham, dispel scroll (Lore of Death) note: debating making him Lore of Vampires, not sure yet.

50 Skellies w. FC, Screaming Banner
10 dire wolves

5 crypt horrors
Spirit Host
Spirit Host

Mortis Engine w. Tome

Please note:
I don't have the money to get the required zombies right now, but I do plan on using them eventually.

I know the defense on my Lord isn't ideal, but I figure if I have a 5+ regen save it's not too bad, esp. considering I pray he never enters combat

I have more in the way of anvils then hammers, but the idea is that the horrors and Engine grind out some wounds, while the rest try to survive as best they can.

I'd like to rig my magic to be more offensive then defensive. Thus my hope is I can kill a couple big fish with the necro's before they fall.

Please review, tell me what you think.

Where the sun crosses the field of blood.

So... How do you suppose your characters shall avoid combat? Because they won't avoid combat in the Skellie unit. And if they run around solo, they'll be shot, either by arrows or Magic.

Split Dire Wolves into two unit of 5.

I'm not sure you need two Spirit Hosts at this point level... But you can try it. They're good anyway.

I just do not feel that you have enough units on the table.

you have 5 drops and only one block of core.

I would try to make two blocks of skeletons of about 30 ( 2 boxes of the 5 skeletons would work)

All those wonderful casters, and not one of them is a Master of the Dead?

Also since its 1500 and you're not spamming some zombies, I'd drop one of the necros. That should free up some points on something more hitty

Early VC list, take 2:

Master Necro lvl 4 w. black periapt, cursed book, seed of rebirth (Lore of Vampires)

Necro lvl 2 w. book of arkham, dispel scroll (Lore of Vampires)

40 Skellies w. FC, Screaming Banner
34 Zombies
5 dire wolves
5 dire wolves

3 Vargheists
5 crypt horrors
Spirit Host

Mortis Engine w. Tome

As for not getting my Master Necro into combat, that was more of a pipe dream I had. Just hoping Regen 5+ is enough. Used to playing armies where keeping the general alive is a piece of cake! (dwarves, WoC)

The dire wolves should have been split from the start; my fault there.

I removed a Necro and a spirit host for some varghiests and zombies (which I will proxy for now). Normally I'd use the Varg's and CH's at 4/4 but that would put me over the special limit if I keep the spirit host.

If I have the zombies should I bother with Master of the dead? I could drop the zombie count, get MoD, then I can raise the skellies or the zombies.

If I'm looking at a necro-heavy army, am I better off fitting in a corpse cart? If so, what special do I drop (had to choose!! )

Thanks for the thoughts, getting this list hammered out!

If you decide to add a Corpse Cart you could drop the Vargheist unit (since they won't benefit from the regen boost of the engine) and give the Cart an Unholy Lodestone. Cart would have 3+ regen and lodestone helps with resurrecting. The Vargs' flying is useful, but you still have two units of Dire Wolves to go after war machines and the like.

Remember that you cannot have more than 1 arcane items per model so your necromancer are illegal at the moment.
