hi all. completly renewing my whole necron armys bases because i dont like them.

Any tips for some good bases. (dont like the idea of any kind of grass or snow for necrons)

Was thinking something like tiles but dont know yet.

You can cover them with slate chips from the GW basing kit and paint them Charadon Granite with a lighter grey drybrush. Or you can get resin bases from a 3rd party company and go wild.

Rusty battered industrial bases would contrast nicely with gleaming shiny Necrons, and plenty of bases are available or easy to convert yourself.

I do sand painted mechrite red, with a rust wash (Les Bursleys). This comes out looking like Mars, a great contrast to the metal look. I usually throw a few Scarabs here and there, as well as some green crystals made from green sprue.

That's a good point - what colour are the necrons themselves?

How are these for ya? I think their products are awesome...search Warmill on net for more.

Those green ones are awsome.... but try buying 80 or so.

My necrons:

Warriors: Spray Gold (Dev Mud) hawk tur shoulderpads (blue wash) green gubbins
Vehicles: Green to Purple "flip flop" car paint Blue accents as above and green gubbins
HQs: Various colours of "flip flop" with blue and gold accents & green gubbins.

Get CD Cases, Cut them up into sections glue them to the base, It will make the base smooth, then around the edges of the cd part do sand painted brown Highlighted red like mars.

The main part is to paint the smooth clear plastic of the cd case black and than free hand Necron Symbols in Scorpion Green, here is an example of mine (Note that I did snow, I suggest you do Mars type since you said no snow)

Question is are you willing to pay for bases? If so I have found the greatest base for a necron army.

hi guys thanks for the feedback some really good ideas for me to look into. sorry for the late reply been hammered with uni work. To those that put the ideas for buying them they are really good but a have a 10k necron army so would cost ALOT. im just planing on taking the bases off them as they are and changing them. Old bases are plain so a easy task just time consuming. Also ive been cutting up lots of crystal shapes from old plastic (glow parts on the warrior gauss weapons). Really like the idea of crystal parts but not on all bases due to 120 warriors lol.

What about wetsanding the bases smooth, scoring necron glyphs into them with a hobby knife and file and creating something similar to these but simpler?
