Hey all, i picked up War of the ring about 2 years ago for a GW 'tale of many gamers' of which i went for Gondor. I have a 2000 point War of the Ring army.

Now with the new books for Lord of the Rings i want to be able to take what i have and put together a 500 point list which will work.

Here is what i have:

I know there will be quite a few different lists that can be worked with this. I may be able to get Boromir aswell, just because i hear he's quite good in LotR.

Did you sell your Warriors of Minas Tirith with bows?

You should have a good 15-16 of them.



The basic gist of the new setup is that you divide your force into Warbands. Each Warband can have 0-12 warriors in it and MUST be led by a Hero. Ergo, for every 12 warriors in your army you must have a Hero to lead them.

Things like Warmachines and monsters are run by themselves.


You could go multiple ways with this.

You have a good sized Gondor force and a small Grey Company force with some potential Allies from Dol Amroth.

So with the Avenger Bolt thrower, it doesn't have to be in a warband then, just by its self in its own warband.

Yeah, it runs alone.

Ok so i looked in the New Kingdom of men book and the Seige engins do have to be in a warband, it just takes up 1 space.

I've been toying around witht the new book and i've come up with this for 500 points

Boromir, captain of the white tower w/ shield 180 (leader)
5 Warriors of minas tirith w/shield 40
6 Warriors of minas tirith w/ spear and shield 54

Halbarad, banner of Arwen Evanstar, spear 126
8 ranger of Arnor w/spear 72

Ranger of the north w/ spear 26
