I recently came across a metal Venomthrope model at the non-Finecast price, so I decided to pick one up. Then I realized why I had never bought the thing in the first place (aside from the medicore stats in the coveted Elites slot): it looks ridiculous. It's a non-psychic RavenerLictor that floats on farts and looks somewhat like a gribbly tentacley mess.

Anyways, I put my mediocre sculpting skills to the test and tried to shove some Warrior legs onto it. I had to cut the model at the torso so it would look more like a Warrior-derivative. Additionally, I had many leftover Toxin Sacs from Trygons and Carnifexes, so I decided to liberally apply these scrotal things to the tail. I'll likely add some to the arm as well in hopes that it will look like the Poisonous Aberration it should be.

Opinions?

Additionally, I've always been turned off of the insanely convoluted gribbly mess that are the four lash whips. Perhaps if I replace the bottom two with Scything Talons, it'd look less silly. Or maybe not. I'm somewhat confident that opponents won't care that the Venomthrope doesn't actually have Scything Talons; most people can't identify Tyranid weapons anyways.
Opinions?

Note that I haven't attached any of the arms in the above photo, Gravity is doing all the work.

By removing the bottom two Lash Whips, it leaves two rather cool-looking Lash Whips for Warriors as well. I'm really unsure if the Scything Talons makes it look better or just emptier.

Also, because this looks like more of a Warrior-derivative and less of a Zoanthrope/Malanthrope-derivative, I'm taking suggestions for a new name for this creature. "Venomthrope" always seemed like a lazy name anyways. Even the originally rumored "Toxothrope" seemed much more appealing.

I'm actually a fan of the legs. I'm probably not too far into my own venoms that I could do this same mod.

As for the whips vs something else, I'm not really sure. I like how less crowded the front looks with 2 whips and 2 talons, but I'd probably try to gently bend those tentacles into something that's a little more spindly, if ya get my meaning.

Lookin' pretty sweet dude.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

You could also try replacing the bottom set of whips with some rending claws.I like the conversion

Thanks. It's actually rather simple to do, but the Venomthrope body ends up looking terribly awkward unless you cut the torso and angle it.

Aye, I was planning on bending the whips to be more flowy and natural once glued down. The bending is the primary reason I especially wanted a metal Venomthrope.

Thanks.
Also, that's a good point. I have some Rending Claws lying around, but I was hoping to use them on Raveners.

Are you suggesting that the loss of the bottom two ships makes it look empty?
I guess the STalons could be angled to cover up the gap more.

Can I be totally honest?

I love it way more than the actual model. Wow. Looks great.

Wow, that actually turned out really, really good. While I'll argue that Venomthropes are mediocre, this definitely makes them look much cooler. And yes, they are a pain to assemble as well.

Liking the four whips, not sure about the sack thing on the tail.

Oh, thanks!
Not trying to be bragging here, but I like it significantly more than the original concept as well if only because the normal Venomthrope looks silly.

Pain indeed!
The ventral fins had enormous holes that needed to be filled with greenstuff. I haven't even tried to attach the whips yet, but I guess I'll have to pin them.
I'll assume that the plesin versions have the same problem.

What's wrong with the tail specifically? I tried to mimic the poisonous Trygon tail slightly in fundamental concept: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m730141a_99120106019_TyranidTrygonMawloc1_873x627.jpg
I tried to make it more poison-y than simply having the tumors on the back.
