a total of: 12 drop pods and 6 dreads!
the tactic: at first, all dreadnoughts will come down, destroy everything, and later the marines will kill the weakness stuff or wil sit on there objective...

don't think, you have to know it if you want to be a commander
2010-> IG losses:5, draws: 1, wins: a really lot of wins
2011 IG losses: 2, draws: 1 wins: 32
2012 losses: 8, draws: 0 wins: 15 |

So Turn 1 you have 6 pods coming into play with the Drop Pod Assault rule.. Since you don't have jump packs on your assault squads you are really hampering their maneuverability, and imo one of the main reasons to take them.
Don't get me wrong I love the idea of a Steel Rain list, just maybe not with BA (or at least not with their assault squads).

Agreed.
Why use drop pods when you can deep strike in with jump packs anyways? You can take 6 units of assault marines, 10 strong, then combat squad them and have 12 of them coming in from reserves with rerolls. The drop pods arent even needed, all you are doing is adding cheap easy kill points. I know combat squadding adds kill points as well, but you dont have to squad them if you dont want to.

Victory is not the most important outcome. Enjoyment and excitement is the best outcome, victory is sweeter when it was fun. |

And a whopping 25 KPs. I run DE and have 22 KPs, at 2k, and that's too much, even for MSU.
5 man crews are just too easily eaten. I think you'll get your lunch money taken.

"I leave everything in reserve" and "you can go first" would be the key words when playing against this army. It's fluffy and worth it if you have the models already but I dont think you will be winning masses of games with it.....I think Drop-Pods can be hard work TBH

no sir! no sir.
With a list like this, all you are likely to do is diminish each of your opponents' squads by a guy or two, down a couple of vehicles, and if you're lucky: you'll have a handful of dreadnoughts surrounded by dead bodies and then a LOT of open space.
Guaranteed: you WILL annoy your opponent all game
With luck and skill: you will squeeze out a victory in capture and control game types
With a shortage of either luck or skill: you will go home defeated but mildly entertained
On a bad day (you left your skill and your lucky dice at home): you might as well bypass the table altogether and just throw those drop pods straight into the floor.
A drop pod list can be pretty snazzy, but don't impair your units and dummy them down for the sake of making sure every warm body enters play in a metal coffin raining from the sky.
My $1.05
but by all means, throw it on the table, and hit us up with a battle rep!
Cheers bro!

why i have choosen for non-jumppack marines is preatty simple... if i do this, 3 dreads will come down and the others not.
and 3 dreads in the first turn will die and i am pretty sure that 6 dreads in the first turn is tougher to kill.
otherwise, i have more pods to contest objectives for the enemy!

Or in other words:
"otherwise, I have more pods..." (to give away as free kill points) "... For the enemy".
You can count on it sir.
