I live in Upper Darby and I keep hearing that Showcase is THE place to go for gaming in the Delaware Valley area. I have some friends that regularly travel to Media to play in Flames of War tournaments, and they have nothing but praise for Showcase. I have a feeling that some Dakka posters are familiar with this particular store, and I'm also willing to bet that some members of that group are active on this forum. Anyway, to my point. I have not been active in the hobby for some time (~3 years), but I have been following it. I have even managed to play the occasional game, and I am up to date on the current rules. I want to get active in the hobby again, so it would seem that finding a new place to game regularly (or at least semi-regularly) would a logical place to start.

My question then is simple. What is the best day to go down to Showcase and meet the people who game there regularly? I find that Fridays are generally the best for me, but I can make any weekend day work if necessary.

It will probably also help if I point out that I play 40K.

Interesting side note: It appears that I may actually have gamed with some of the Showcase 40K Guys many years ago in the Allentown, PA area.

Warhammer 40k is played the most on Fridays and Saturdays

This is Mike, I own the store. Live there pretty much as well.) Fridays and Saturdays are fairly heavy for 40k, and Saturday evening gets a lot of FOW players. Fridays we game late until past midnight. Occaisonally to 4am, like we did for Dakkacon.)

This weekend is a bit cramped, with the SVDM grand tournament going on, but Friday night should still have room and people playing 40k. Drop on by anytime if you want to check things out and chat, or hit a weekend and bring your army along.

WFB is picking up overall, with several new people picking up armies, and a dozen or so vets pulling them back out. Fridays and Saturdays are the busiest days. Seems to ebb and flow. About every 3 weeks it seems we'll have a day with 12 guys playing fantasy all day, then quiet with only a few in other days. We'll be starting up a league soon on Fridays, which will give folks a regular night for playing. Got to get through SVDM this weekend, then set up the next round of leagues and events through the summer.

What is warbands? If you guys started a league for fantasy every Friday, I would make the effort to come out.

Showcase has a fairly active website as well, just google Showcase Comics Granite Run Mall.

Warbands is a event Mike runs. It has some pretty cool rules, and is geared towards learning. There are a few ad hoc rules to my understand IE leveling up a Hero, units with adjust limits, etc. Its all on their website.

Showcase is a great store in the Philly area. The nice part is he has pretty much everything regularly stocked, is willing to help with listing build, and you have folks who play WMHD, WFB, 40k, and FoW. Happy to see this post, i'll try to swing by Friday as I think i'm finally free that day. I forgot about late night gaming

This Friday, we have a 1200pt WFB tournament. Warbands is sort of a generic term for smaller games. This tournament is fairly close to normal WFB with a few restrictions from the ETC rules set.

At DakkaCon I ran a Chaos Warbands event from the old Realms of Chaos books, that slowly mutate your champion and followers, grant rewards like daemon swords, etc. Working on rules for a long term league for that type of event.

I have to agree... Showcase is the best around.
