Sacrifice to the Dark Gods

Hi everyone
Ive been playing with chaos mostly recently and have only just got back to necrons.
Most of my army lists with these guys havenot been that great :( so was hoping that anyone could give me ideas
Here is my entire army below - please make of it what you will (I know i needs more troops!)

1 Necron Lord

12 Necron Warriors

3 Wraiths

3 Scarab Swarms

4 Destroyers

1 Heavy Destroyer

1 Monolith

2 C'tan (Both the deciever adn nightbringer, not that it mattersa anymore :( )

1 Doomsday Ark (could be used as a ghost ark?)

6 Flayed Ones

1 Destroyer Lord

1 Tomb Spyder

Im thinking of getting a doom/night sythe and some of the new wraith models when they come out. Also was wondering: tomb blades or destroyers which are are better?

Thanks and best regards

Also a quick note: I have 2 immortals from before the latest codex (Metal) and also have 2 phariahs. Was wondering if i could convert these too lychguard or crypteks?

when it comes to Necrons synergy is the key to a strong list. None of your guys are going to excel on their own. They're all going to need a roll to fill.

If you have the spare cash you could definitely get a few small things to round out a 1500 point list (I hear they will be coming out with the necron starter force soon). Some things I'd recommend you get would be a couple Annihilation barges and at least 1 command barge. Those will go a long way towards building a good foundation for your smaller games. Those plus a box of warriors and you can get something closer to this for a list

  • necron 1500 point list

    destroyer lord w/ MSS; weave;

    overlord w/ warscythe; command barge

    crypteks x4 H.o.D. w/ solar pulse

    warriors x5

    warriors x5

    warriors x5

    warriors x5

    destroyers x5 w/ heavy x1;

    wraiths x6 w/ whip coils x3;

    Scarabs x6

    annihilation barge

    annihilation barge

P.S. I pumped your wraiths up to 6 also.

  • unfortunately I didn't get much from what you have already that would make a very competitive list without smoothing out some edges. I had a bit more luck making a list around a 1000 for what you have if you're interested. Wraiths are a strong unit now and you can definately go for worse than wraiths. As far as tomb blades vs. destroyers I don't think you're going to have an easy answer. Neither is a bad unit and in fact their greatest sin for either is that they just don't shine quite as bright as the wraiths and scarabs that they fight for slots with. However they both can offer utility to lists that wish to use them.

If I were to break them down in comparisons. I'd say that destroyers are better at breaking M.E.Q. and light to medium tanks, whereas tomb blades will be better for anti-horde and light anti tank weapons. Blades are half the cost of destroyers but also have a weaker save. Finally destroyers are now jump infantry. So they're much more comfortable hunkering down and staying put and moving when necessary now. On the other hand tomb blades are the new jet bikes of the fast attack slot meaning they can zip around and shoot comfortably and if anything gets to close for comfort can shoot 24" in the other direction and get a cover save to top it off.

I know a lot of old school necron players are using their pariahs as stand in crypteks. Since they're on the same base and both carry long staff like weapons they're easy to swap. No modding needed unless desired.

GENERATION 10: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

I would start off by saying it looks like you are trying to use your old army. Some of the new units are pretty sweet.
You could use pariahs for lychguard with scythes?

I think for 1500 pts, 2 C'tan could be too many points....depending on the wargear you choose with them, those two models could come out to be almost 600 points.

I'd consider having your destroyers go 3 regular/ 2heavy, that's what I run, to good effect.
Definitely want the wraiths. Whip coils are boss as well

I tend to be concerned when MSU's are involved, because if a squad breaks, they can't make their RA roles, as with your troop choices, but then again, I suppose you wont be relying on them to fight, just capture points?

Overall, i see decent killy-ness against Armor and Swarms, but I think it could do with some tweaking.

If you are interested in getting the tomb blades, they are really dedicated shooting against infantry, and are good at it, and you have to know how to use a jetbike(rely on movement cover saves, rather than wargear to keep them alive). They cost less (about half a destroyer w/ wargear, but the problem is the max squad size...its rather low.)

    Bedouin Dynasty: 10000 pts
    The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum.

    Hmmm thanks for the advice!

Ill break this down for easier reading:

Wraiths: As soon as the new models come out im definatly getting 3 more they are just so danm good

Troops: I wasnt sure if it was that great an idea to break warrior squads down into 5 models per group but will try it out in objective games.
Also are immortals not a gd sub for warriors? Its just that noone seems to use them.

Elites: I had a much closer look at this section and being honest, its not the best for necrons. Mostly due to the small number of attacks the CC models get and their low initiative. The only model I would really consider getting here is the triarch stalker because of the targeting relay rule. as im getting more troops i think it would synergize quite well. Espeacially for the destroyers too.

Crypteks: Gonna use my pariahs models for these. The harbinger of the storm looks to be quite decent. If you stick a cryptek with a squad of warriors and have it equiped with lightning field, it could go a long way in protecting them against tying-up units (rippers and scarabs).

    Thanks guys

Also when the independant character models come out im thinking of getting orikan the diviner, nemsor zahndrek and vargard obyron. Orkian works well with a c'tan with the writhing worldscape power and the other 2 look quite dangerous 2

If your going to go for triarch stalkers you might wanna take more then just 1 or hes gonna be an obvious target and will probs go down fast
