Guardsman with Flashlight

So this will be my very first post on this forum of my very first army. The Wermacht themed Imperial Guard. The 7th Russ Division.
The GW's ig models never really appealed to that much so an alternative was required. In comes Warlord Games German infantry.
I'm going to be updaiting my progress here as soon as there is something worth showing.
And so it begins.
Too the pictures!
So here we see how surprisingly well the IG lasgunhands fit to the WLG figure. True the lasgun is insany large but it can be helped by filing the gun down a bit, as you can see from the gentelman on the top right.
I must say that I had my doubts about them beeing all hunched down. But in the end it added a bit of realisim.
A close up of the grenade launcher.
Next we have a size comparasson to tow normal GW model whit Warlord heads. Whits one do you prefer?
Colors scheme! Not at all done yet but you still get the idea. Instead doing the historically inaccurate gray I decided on the more accurate green. Thou I just might do the higelights whit gray just to get the illusin of it on there.
Seems I have to practise my photografy as well.
Here we have a slightly better image of the paint job.
An another one from behind.
So thats the start of the Wermach IG army. More to come. A lot more. I am planing on getting at least two platoon worth of them and then some tanks to mach.

Started on the CCS and on 2 PCS sice I had the parts for them all. Decided to use GW figures for the commanders because of there good posture. What else would an IG comander need besides good posture and a loud voice.
CC on the center and PC's on the sides.
Plasma and Melta. I still need to get my hands on a fitting wire to connect the plasmagun to the backpack.
Vox caster and something thats supposed to be a commisar when its finished. Green stuff master I am not.
First squad nearly compleated.

It suits them - I've often wanted to do a red army guard.

These are Micro Panzer's Russian Heavy Combat suits. They are made to be 15mm mech's but are just about the same size as a GW Ogryn.

Alright finished some guardsmans the other day and they are ready for some criticism.
First is a group shot and once again we get to wonder my inability to take decent pictures.
Nexst is a close up where we see my horrible painting skill's.
Every army need's to move around so the need transports. And so they shall. Chimera converted from a Rhino.
I think I need to explain this a bit. I dont think there is nothing wrong with the chimera model it's just that when I think of an apc I imagine the m113a1 personel carrier. Also I like a bit of variety in my army and I want my transports to look nothing like the heavy artillery basilisk I'm planing on getting.
And finally we end with a picture of all the troops I currently have. And some on the way.

A packet of six standard guitar strings will give you all the wire you could ever need. The lower strings give you very nice 'cabling', the higher (thinner) strings for thin wires, antennae, etc.
Great work so far!

Pretty neat combining WL with GW stuff
Although I'm annoyed you called this Wermacht themed. Thats not the right term. If you're looking for the army then its the Heer

I use the term Wermacht mainly for two reasons.
First, it's more widely known. People know what to expect from a topic under that term.
Second, it gives me more room to work whit. Meaning I can later add elements from the air force like Valkyrie, Vendetta and Vulture etc. While still being true to the theme. I could not do this if I limit my self to one certaint branch of the millitary in question. Simply, I call it Wermacht because I'm going to include Heer, Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine in this theme.
Dont ask me how I'm going to include the navy in this because I havent figured that out my self.

Ah I suppose. I just assumed you were just doing army. Forgot that valks are with the navy so its all separate
Although that is kinda funny that the airforce in 40k is the navy, ships in space and all

True. I wonder if they do any actual naval combat at all.

Hmm since significant bodies of water are extremely dependent on planets, I bet that any boat actions are handled by the PDF/ IG. Probably either using some obscure STC or homegrown ships
