I thought it would be a neat idea if we could all compile a list of hints and tips for those new to painting. I will start with a few basic ones.

1. Despite what the internet says, you don't always have to thin your paints.
2. There is such a thing as over highlighting.
3. Wait for the miniature to be completely dry before applying a different colour or layer.
4. It is best to use a "Mass Production Line" when painting squads, do each step on each model before moving on.
5. The golden rule - A painted model (no matter how badly painted) ALWAYS looks better than an unpainted one.

Add to list guys and gals, see if we can make this thread the go-to place for beginners.

Read the article section this is duplicating effort. Sorry to pee on your bonfire, your points are valid but the there is no need as we have the article section.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

99% of new painters really, REALLY do. Its typically important advice.

But yeah, this thread has come up numerous times, and never really sticks, mainly because there is already a sticky devoted to painting articles.

Well all i would say is that you would be amazed at:

1. How much stuff is in the article section.
2. How few people seem to use it.

Spread the love, and tell everyone to go to it as often as possible.
