Recently I read an article regarding not to use Baking Soda for snow bases (something to do with the chemical composition and the plastic causes the snow to turn yellow) so I did some research and found that many people use glass/silica powder for snow because it chemically inert, but now here comes the problem:

*Drum roll please* Glass Powder is BANNED in some nations, and I can kind of assume why... soo im asking the peoples of the internet help me find a solution to this problem or silica powder!!

P.S. I emailed the author of the article to see if he could provide a link to where he bought the silica/glass powder

I would strongly suggest going to secretweaponminiatures.com's website

I ordered a pack of their "snow basing kit" and while I haven't had opportunity to use it yet (being busy with so much other stuff in RL and all), but I have read a ton of good things about those guys

There's alternate mixes than baking soda, I remember one uses a matte medium in addition and supposedly it stays white as long as you don't leave it out in direct sunlight 24/7 (literally).

Also bicarb soda is better apparently but IDK where to get that in the US (but you can just look, so many US tutorials say 'oh hey here's this handy ingrediant only available at wal mart/an art store that's a fifth of your cost so you'll have to go online to get it!')

Otherwise, go secret weapons.

Bicarb you can get in any supermarket in the baking goods aisle.

I've used it on models that are now 20 years old with no yellowing.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Glass powder is freaking deadly, I'm not touching that stuff under any circumstances.

Mix white paint with baking soda. It won't turn yellow.

I emailed both the author who wrote about using glass for the base and a Jarhead from MassiveVoodoo (massivevoodoo.blogspot.com <<Check out their site lots of cool stuff there),

The author stated that he received the glass from a friend, and I did some research on the MSDS of glass beads and i am NOT going to be using this...

Jarhead, on the other hand had an very interesting and helpful suggestion (i read one of the tutorials's and was confused so I emailed him) In the article he said to mix Baking Soda and Matte Varnish and then apply it to the base, I think im gonna try that and see how it comes out>
