I want to make 3 Armored Core inspired satellite style dishes that provide solar power, one 10" and two 6" that stand tall enough to provide cover for flyer style skimmers. My problem is that i have no clue where to even start on them. How do I make them look real, yet worn? What can I use to get the basic shape down? How should I base them?

Side note I want to make a power relay station near by, but can not even start to imaging how to make the box structure, coils, or transformers.

And what do you guys use to make chain link fence and barbed wire?

for my barbed wire, I actually bought some at a hobby shop. My guess is you can do the same wherever you are at. I have also heard of using larger gauge guitar strings.

For fencing I would look for brass etched mesh, which probably would be at a hobby shop, or possibly at a home improvement store (some sort of screening basically)

1. Have no answer for this one.

2. Pegasus makes a Power Plant kit that has many many parts that could be used for this.

3. Fiberglass Window screen for both. Cut one strand off and you have passible scale barbed wire (not razor wire, but good for single strand barbed wire) and just cut the rest to the right width for the fencing.

If the screen is a no go for you, Tule (?) from a fabric shop can be used.

Close: It's "tuLLe". that netting stuff used in ballet tu-tus.

The Pegasus power plant kit combined with some spare HEXAGON triangular pieces (long pieces) to make the dishes (make a dish around 3 1/2" across by themselves).

This is a small hexagon parts dish.

This is kind of want I want to fabricate.

And this is what the dish will hopefully look like.

O gauge? I was told by wikipedia that 28mm = S gauge.

Thing is that most GW stuff suffers from scale creep - its more like heroic 28 mm (wtf that means) and looks closer to O gauge. Hell in some cases 1/35 scale works perfectly well along side GW figures - especially for things like fuel cans, ammo cans and so forth.

It is, but O gauge is common compared to S gauge. You'll have more luck trying to find O gauge anywhere model trains are usually sold. More companies make it (although not as many as HO).
Hell, Z gauge is common compared to S gauge.
