Does a spotlight from a vehicle have any effect on the deathleaper's ability that makes you roll to see him like its a nightfight. So if I used a vehicle to spotlight him would my other units have to still roll or what, I don't play nids so I don't have their codex but I was curious.

And does the acute senses ability have any effect?

Yeah, Deathleaper's rules basically just totally reference the Night Fighting rules, so I'd say definitely yes, all these things work on him.

The Tau stealth field generator is a little more ambiguous, because that rule says you roll 'as if firing at night' which kind of indicates that you use the rolling/spotting method for night fighting but it isn't actually night fighting (in this case).

So I'd say Deathleaper - yes, gets screwed by anti-night fighting stuff.
Stealthsuits - no, don't get boned by anti-night fighting stuff.

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!

yakface, normally I would agree, however, both Searchlights and Nightvision/Acute Senses specify they are used when the Nightfighting rules are in effect,, not when rolling for Nightfightng.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Those are my two arguments for and against... the problem is which one is right.

But aren't the rules of night fighting to make the night fight roll? if you have to make a night fight roll to see something then I would say the rules of night fighting are in effect.
