Your welcome.

Concerning the miniature itself:
Try to water your paints down a little.
Try to not get the colour on areas where it does not belong.
Pick out a few more details.
Base it.
Add some washes.
Unlock achievement: 100% improvement.

Any suggestions for basing techniques that are fairly easy?

I saw a friend of mine use ground up Wine bottle cork on his bases. He just painted over it, and maid it look like rocks. In his Gallary he has more pics. his name is HONAW.

Any cork will do. It's usually beneficial to cover the cork in super glue, so that it hardens and creates a tough outer shell to paint on. The cork without a coating will soak up a lot of paint and mess with the colors and the covering area.
