Of all the races of the universe the Squats have the longest memories and the shortest tempers. They are uncouth, unpredictably violent, and frequently drunk. Overall, I'm glad they're on our side!

Sweeeeeet

Loved World of Tanks. Lots of fun for a F2P style game especially if you're an armor buff (even if the game becomes a huge annoyance in later tiers). Definitely giving this a try.

Just as a follow up to my previous post I have been invited to the Alpha (Don't know if that's odd or anything) If anyone is interested I'll be sharing the experience in this thread.

They're calling it a Global Alpha and I have no idea if they're being selective at all with it. I put in my application when this thread went up and got the email granting me Alpha access a few hours ago.

The site says the had over 100,000 sign up for the Alpha. Still waiting on an email from them.....

Wait... how can you sign up for an Alpha test? Wouldn't making it public make it a Beta test?

Hoping they put in british planes, on the alpha site, it only mentioned German, Japanese, USSR and US planes.

It pretty much is a Beta test (WoT did the same thing as I understand it) but it's really bare bones right now.

British Planes are supposed to be added eventually (but they've been saying that about WoT for like, a year? And the only just added a really limited, and absurdly super unbalanced, French tech tree).

Hat Update #1:

I've played a few games and I'm going to share a little bit of what I've got. Right now, the game is really really bare bones. Crews (Pilots) have not been implemented, nor have the tech trees. For now, everyone gets a Tier 1 1930's aircraft from the US, USSR, and Germany just like in WoT. Unfortunately I've had a few annoyances as there haven't been many players on, so I'm in a Tier 1 US Biplane being gunned down by a Me 262 One of my hopes is that they don't implement a matchmaker like in WoT where my puny little Sherman ends up being blasted to pieces by the five King Tigers on the other team but there are so few players in the Alpha right now that's not feasible.

Controls are... Stiff? I've tried both Mouse & Keyboard and Joy Stick controls and I have to say Mouse and Keyboard is really really awkward. It works, but lining up on the target aircraft is not the easier thing to do with a mouse. It works much better with a joystick. Unfortunately for me, the Joystick doesn't have arcade controls as an option with makes flying a little awkward for me as I'm not a huge flight sim guy so I'm still learning the controls. I'm trying to think out my feelings so I can give some constructive feedback to the devs about the mouse controls.

The game itself I think is going to be different from WoT (surprise right?) where most of the time, the game ends when all opposing vehicles are dead. Maps have numerous ground targets spread about for attack and the destruction of these targets signals victory. As such I suspect that going for the objective win will be much more common in WoW than it is in WoT.
