Couldn't find a straight answer on the book so... if the monster they are handling dies are the handlers removed as well? by reading the book the handlers are just add ons to the monster not being able to actually count towards the terrain, LoS, etc therefore i'd think that they are removed once the monster is killed however I don't see a reason why would they just suddenly die after the monster they were babysitting the whole game dies.

Handlers are always removed when the monster dies. If there are multiple monsters in the unit(Salamanders and Razordons for example) then they arn't removed until all the monsters are gone.

If the Handlers are all killed then the monster takes a monster reaction test.

There are some monsters, like the Hydra, where you CANNOT kill the Handlers. They are basically just an extra 3 Armor piercing attacks at a higher inititive that the Hydra has.

Always check the FAQs as many of these odd units have had things changed to bring them in line with the rules. There may, and will, be exceptions to the main monster and handler rules.

Unless it says the handlers stay in the army book or FAQ then they will go away when the monster dies.
