Subject: Question about cover saves?

If two squads are "in cover" say, in a forest. but both squad is within two inches of each other when one fires at the other does the squad being fired at still get their cover save? does this apply to vehicles within a forest being fired at or firing at?
we just had a situation where two squads were on either side of a sandbag and thought that it was weird that they were giving each other cover. And we had a vehicle roll up and it was still granting cover to its targets when it was point blank... is this correct?

Is it a sandbag wall?
If it is units on either side of it in base contact with it don't get the cover of the wall, see Page 22
Same page says you can fire through up to 2" of area terrain and ignore cover saves.
Page 58 gives the method for vehicle, basically treat each weapon mount as a model and sight from there.
Not sure if vehicle get the 2" thing in area terrain.

This is not correct. If you are inside area terrain, and not a vehicle or MC, you will get a cover save from non template shooting no matter where the shots originate from.

Ah yes I see, you have to be firing OUT for the ignore 2" thing.

so then we were doing this correct? I am aware that shooting out of cover doesn't grant cover saves to models your shooting at if its within 2 inches of the edge of the terrain. Thanks for the replies by the way.
