Just checked out the sprues for the new hive tyrant kit on the GW website and I noticed a few things:

I saw ZERO devourers or deathspitters

The wings fit in an arm socket where the weapon arms go

Was this intentional? Am I missing something? Does GW enjoy what I see as completely screwing up?

I noticed that too and am a bit befuddled by it. The wings in an arm slot bugs me the most.... Maybe theres a third sprue for the devourers (unlikely.... But maybe lol)

Total Finecast models purchased: 5
Total models without Finecast issues out of those purchased: 0
... "Finecast"

They probably think we have enough left over bits from warrior sprues to outfit him with them, that's my guess.

Or if not, to buy multiple kits to make one.

Yeah, you're missing something. GW follows a strict design philosophy for Tyranids visually, and one of those is 6 limbs. Wings in the upper arm socket follows what they've done with Gargoyles (which actually now have the upper arm scket and leg socket occupied by wings), and the FW Flyrant and Warrior wings.

FW did it by making them 'scything wings', where the 'fingers' holding the membrane were scything talons, though GW seem to have gone with 'scything feet' which accomplishes the same goal, though both limit what the second weapon will be without converting.

Basically, they were always going to put the wings in the upper arm slot. Anyone expecting them to put them on the carapace wasn't paying attention to the rest of the model range.
