Hey everyone, i'm interested to trying out some airbrusing on my dark eldar vehicles but not too sure on the best kits to use for a good effect.

If anyone can give any advice on the kind of kit i should get and where i could find said kit for a reasonable price, i would be most grateful

And it is really a great bit of kit.

Check out a guy called "buypainted" on You Tube. He is a great painter who uses an airbrush for quite a lot of stuff.

He has some really good tutorial videos.

He recommends a cheap and simple brush off ebay and gets some great results.

That is in contrast to what I read when I was shopping around. You need to get a good quality air-brush - Badger, Iwata, Harder & Steenbeck etc.

Just make sure you do plenty of research before buying anything. I have used mine a few times now and been very pleased with the results.

Yeh me too, I guess the manufacturers of airbrushs would tell you that.

But that is a good point and one I thought myself.

I am a big believer in spending the money to buy quality.

What I decided to do in the end was buy a cheap one, and I am talking $30 here and then once I had used that for a bit I'd get a better idea of what I wanted from an AB so I could spend the big dollars wisely.

Harder & Steenbeck are the ducks nuts tho' and maybe one day I'll get one, once I have an idea what I am doing.

I have a couple of setups, but if pushed I would say that the most imortant piece of kit initially is getting a good compressor. Get one with a reservoir as it smooths out the airflow from the pump.

I also have a couple of Iwata airbrushes which are great, but I also have a £10 cheapie special from ebay that does a good job too. Spend the money on a good compressor, get a cheap gun to learn with and progress from there.

For paints have a look at the Vellajo air range, as they work well. I also use paints from the Auto Air Colour range as they are also water based.

Practice and look at vids on youtube before you get despondant with your initial results.

Especially true for everything airbrush, as a good brush will last you a long time. Personally, I've had very good experiences with Rich and Iwata brands. The one thing you should keep an eye out for is dual action and gravity feed.

Agreed, also ensure you have plenty of cleaning kit for your brush to keep it in good condition. Make sure that you clean it thoroughly every time you use it

thanks guys, i really haven't ever airbrushed anything before so i guess buying a cheapo one to start practising with is probably the best idea, you never now, i might be uttery appalling at it and never get better so will be a bit miffed if ive spent a smalle fortune on a really good quality kit
