I'm starting to get a little fancy now.

The first thing I wanted was something (other than straight water) to help thin down the foundation paints I have and extend the amount of time I have to work with them. I'm slow and the GW paints just seem to dry way too fast and they are extremely "goopy", if that makes sense. So, I tried the Golden Acrylic Flow Release; but I'm pretty sure it made things worse. Dry time was radically extended, in one case it took days; but it was still goopy. Of course, after throwing a bottle of that away I found out I was supposed to mix it 1:20 with water...

Regardless I moved on to using W&N's water colour blending medium. This helped a LOT with flow; but the dry time was still a bit too long. I then tried some Ox Gall. Dry time is acceptable and flow is pretty good. I even used some to resuscitate a bottle of Sun Yellow.

Which leads me to my question: Does it matter if the medium is meant for "Acrylic" or "Water Colour" paints?

All of the acrylic stuff seems to be very goopy. I recently bought some Liquitex Iridescent Medium. I wanted to spice up some DE masks by making them somewhat pearlescent. After mixing it with a bit of Scorpion Green, the paint was nearly unworkable. So I thinned it down quite a bit with the Ox Gall. The end result looked pretty good to me..

The next thing I want to do is paint a Ravager or Jetfighter with the Iridescent stuff mixed with black to come up with a Black Pearl; both are patiently waiting for me on my shelf. However there is a world of difference between throwing paint on large surfaces and painting the little masks.

I don't mind going back to get the "right" things; I just need to know if there is a right thing or if what I've done so far will end up looking like crap.
