Ok so with the imminent release of the bonesword and lash whips from GW I figured I'd ask this question. For the Tyrant Guard it says that the entire brood can replace its Scything Talons with one of the following.

Then it lists a bonesword and a Lash Whip. Does this mean I can replace one Scything Talon and have one bonesword and one Scything Talon? Or does it mean both Scything Talons are removed in order to accommodate either one lash whip or one bone sword?

I hope the wording makes sense to someone out there.

You replace scything talons as a set, not individually.

Not only that, but the codex says:

"The entire brood may replace their scything talons with one of the following:"

You can have a brood of Tyrant Guard with Scything Talons and Rending Claws, Lash Whips and Rending Claws or Boneswords and Rending Claws.

You cannot intermingle the choices.

So if you replace the Scything Talons as a set does that mean you are forced to purchase either 2 Bone Swords or 2 Lash Whips in order to replace both Scything Talons?

No, puma is correct. You cannot get 2 Boneswords/Lash Whips because you are replacing the set of Scything Talons to get 1 Bonesword/Lashwhip. You do not have a second set of Scything Talons available to replace.

No, you just purchase the biomorph once, but you may represent it twice, since both scything talons are being replaced. Personally, I just replace one arm with a lashwhip and leave the other a scything talon, but tyrant guard with two lashwhips would look pretty cool, I think.

But for the sake of the game its only one bonesword or one Lash Whip. Normally I'd be ok with giving the Guard 2 Boneswords or 2 Lash Whips but 2 Boneswords act differently than just one.

I agree 2 Lash Whips will look really cool

Fortunately for me, I have some of the old style TG that stand on 2 feet and have an actual shield.

I wish I had some of those still. Mine were stolen (along with a few thousand other points)...

I'm thinking of turning my old Hive Tyrants into TG... just need to source some shields (or figure out how to make my own).

The old TG look cool. I prefer the newer ones, but that shield does look cool. It would also quickly solve the problem I'm having with modeling only one bonesword on 2 hands. I was thinking of taking the arm that doesn't hold a gun from a Warrior Brood and "fuse" it with the bonesword arm.
