Subject: Including Elysians with regular Imperial Guards?

Noobquestion:
Can i include units from Elysian Regiment in my regular Imperial Guard army?
I have a ~800point IG army, and looking at the pure awesomeness and details on the Elysian Drop troops makes me want to include some of them in my army.
So can i combine, lets say a Hardened Veteran Squad (found in Imperial Armor vol 3) as an elite in my IG army?
What are the general rules when it comes to using Imperial Armor units with the "Standard" armies?
Thanks

As with most things, it boils down to opponent's permission.

No, you cannot.
Rule of thumb is you cannot combine codices/army lists, unless there was an allowance specifically allowing this. Since those allowances are now gone--no.
The Elysian Drop Troop army list from Taros, by the way, has been updated and now uses the army list from Imperial Armour Volume 8: Raid on Kastorel Novem.

You could however use Elysians as their guard equivalents. I would suggest just using the Elysian army list, though.

I would just use the Elysians as Veteran Troopers mounted in Valkyries.

Id use them as elysians out of ia 8. If your paying all that cash for the models might as well go big.

Another thing to consider is that there is the "Detachment 99" list.
It is basically an "Elite" Guard force. The updated list for D-99 is available for free here from Forge World's Downloads section.
It still requires you to own Imperial Armour Volume 8 however.
