To play a campaign you need 2 people (really, this is the best way, to cut down on people leaving mid campaign). Seriously, all it is is a series of linked games. You can make a campaign simple (with branching battles depending on where on the 'map' your forces are) or complex (doing something like using the Planetary Empires set). You can even mix it up putting things like varied army sizes per game, selecting a set of HQ choices to be limited to a pre-selected 2 or 3 HQ's for the whole campaign, with lasting effects from being incapacitated in battle, using the experience tables in the BRB, etc. Campaigns are very 'homebrew'. A lot of it is what you and your friends make of it. Just try out some shorter campaigns first, getting stuck into a long campaign only to realize it doesn't interest you is a bit of a waste of time. Just talk to your friends and see which ones want in.
