Just wanted opinions/advice on my new list, haven't played 40k in about 7 years and I am not a big fan of mech lists.

So far I have a very solid 1000pts that I would like to stick too as (a) I have the models and (b) it is doing very well so far.

The 1000pts is as stands:

Logan

Rune Priest - Chooser

Wolf Guard x 10 - 2 x Terminator Armour w Chain Fist and Clyclone

Wolf Guard x 10 - 2 x Terminator Armour w Chain Fist and Clyclone

The list so far is lacking ranged firepower and mobility, though anything that comes close enough to assault, drops fast.

I have played several games against blood angels (mainly drop pod lists), a couple games against tyranids (mixed horde lists), two games against basic marines (mech and gun heavy lists) I tabled everything but the marines (everything that didn't assault me) and only lost to Grey Knights

I am looking to increase my army to 1750, I feel I need a fast moving hard hitting unit to take care of things sat on the edge of the board (maybe thunderwolf cav) and some more numbers (possibly grey hunters.)

If possible I want to stay away from mech.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!

thunder wolf cavalry about two squads of three all with melta bombs and shields other upgrades is anything you want really frost axe would be nice. Then a ten man unit of wolf scouts with pistols and swords flamer would be nice you want to kill hiding units e.g guardians or 30 man units of termagants wolf scouts are perfect for this then have terminator with cyclone and twin claws remember they can come on turn to so having a cyclone means you can still provide support. scouts have move through cover so they are not to slow. If points to much don't shave points of cavalry they are your one unit that can kill lemon russ lAnd raiders And now even monoliths which will occur in 1750 if you want transports you could drop termi armour and take rhino's but you don't want mech so there is no point hope I helped

Remember take storm shields on thunder wolf cavalry!!!!!

Why would you want to take 2 squads of thunder cav?
Wouldnt 1 squad be enough?
And take a few more squads of wolf guard coz they are Multi purpose.

Loganwing at 1000 points eh? That's a tough order since Logan himself is a quarter of your army.

What you need to do is break up your Troops a bit. Multiple 5 man squads will be more use to you than a few 10 man squads.

Also, what other wargear are you rocking for the Wolf guard? Just Bolt Pistols and CCW? Or Bolters? Seems like you have 50 points left over or there abouts...

Anyways, with the list as it is I'm a bit surprised it did as well as you are saying. If it were me I would have done this:

1 Logan Grimnar
1 Lone Wolf w/ TDA, Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer, two Fenrisian Wolves
1 Lone Wolf w/ TDA, Storm Shield, Chain Fist, two Fenrisian Wolves
3 Wolf Guard Packs - 4 with Bolter, 1 with TDA, Power Weapon, Cyclone Missile Launcher
1 Long Fang Pack - 5 with 4 Missile Launcher

@ 995 points you have 10 Missiles and all of its mobile (Relentless or Tank Hunters on Long Fangs? Yes please!). 17 bodies in Power Armor and 6 in Terminator Armor isn't that bad for 1000 points.

Expanding to 1750 I'd 2 more 5 man squads and 1 10 man squad, another Long Fang pack, and a Rune Priest. So this:

1 Logan Grimnar
1 Rune Priest w/ Living Lightning and Murderous Hurricane
1 Lone Wolf w/ TDA, Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer, two Fenrisian Wolves
1 Lone Wolf w/ TDA, Storm Shield, Chain Fist, two Fenrisian Wolves
5 Wolf Guard Packs - 4 with Bolter, 1 with TDA, Power Weapon, Cyclone Missile Launcher
6 Wolf Guard Packs - 8 with Bolter, 2 with TDA, Power Weapon, Cyclone Missile Launcher
2 Long Fang Pack - 5 with 4 Missile Launcher

@ 1750 exactly you get 22 Missile Launchers, Living Lightning/Murderous Hurricane, 39 bodies in Power Armor and 10 in Terminator armor.

For both lists you take the Fenrisian Wolves with the Lone Wolves to screen your Wolf Guard. Keep the Lone Wolf and his buddies 2" apart and you can easily protect 5 models behind him with a cover save.

Anyways that's just one idea. There are loads of ways to run Logan's Heroes.

Quick aside about TWC: Don't throw too many points into them. 3-4 models will get the job done at 1750. They're a support unit for your Grey Hunters normally. Could do the same with Wolf Guard, but since you are spending more points already I wouldn't bother. Especially with all the Missile Launchers. TWC are needed in foot lists for a rapid response force. They either quickly strike the enemy, or counter an enemy move. With all the ranged firepower there is not much of a point to spending 340+ points on Thunderwolf mounted models.
