I always wanted a troop intense, Monolith army for Necrons. With the new codex I decided it was time. However, I've been out of the game (mostly) for a while and need tips on how to built a proper army. The basic idea is monoliths and "foot troops".

HQ
Over Lord with War Scythe, T. Arrow, and Catacomb Command Barge 210

Troops
9 Immortals W/ Tesla, Necron Lord W/ War Scythe & Res Orb 228
9 Immortals W/ Tesla, Necron Lord W/ War Scythe & Res Orb 228
9 Immortals W/ Tesla, Necron Lord w/ War Scythe & Res Orb 228
9 Immortals W/ GB, Cryptek with Solar Pulse & Edritch Staff 208
6 Warriors 78

Elites
C'Tan W/ that S9 24" weapon & the D3 moving units around ability ( I don't have codex with me) 270
Triarch Stalker 150

Heavey
Monolith 200
Monolith 200

2,000!

I like the C'Tan but am flexible. Anything else is adjustable too. Thanks for all input and critical suggestions!

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

I know you've said you love monoliths, but they lost a lot of what made them awesome in this codex. Granted, I still field one.
You need to ask yourself, what role will they be playing? deep striking in, and dragging an immortal squad in from reserve to light someone up? Fire magnets?
A lot of people swear by annihilation barges, and if i'm not mistaken, you could fit in 3, plus extra wargear for the price of taking out one monolith.
Stalker with all those twin-linked shots could be quiite nasty, I would keep that.
Remember, this new codex doesn't feature a single "insta-win" unit, you need to think synergies, and things fit together to make your best list.
Cheers!

Honestly iguy91 is right. all it takes is a couple melta guns and the monoliths are gone. Then wheres your army? it would me the process of mopping of your immortals squad by squad so they cant get brought back up. I also run 1 monolith because it is great for transporting and supporting fire but at the same time i also take 2 annihilation barges because there fire power is really strong.

I have never once had anything close to good luck with deep striking and the few games I've played with the Monoliths they have been destroyed by melta. Thanks for the posts, I think I'll work more point values out before seriously putting an army on the table.

Cheers!
