Im playing a campaign with some of my friends and one of the main battles is one where you have 1000pts and you can take anything regardless of force orginization. I have only really recently started playing Space Wolves and am more than a little overwhelmed at the possibilities. I tried one list and managed to get tabled by grey knights without killing a thing. Can anyone suggest some good line ups?

My amazingly underperforming list was:

Njal Stormcaller

2x Preds with TL Las and Las sponsons

Vindicator

5 TWC with Storm Shields

I believe that was it.

To have not killed a single thing, your rolling must have been pretty abysmal. maybe just try again later, or if you can vary the equipment on the TWC so they can't all be wacked on the same go? apart from that, I'm not really a space wolf player, but really? without killing a thing? that sounds more like luck than anything. 6 lascannons (2 of them TL'd) should kill at least ONE GK/rhino/henchman/whatever he was running

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Why would you not want to take Grey Hunters, Long Fangs, and Rune Priests? The best Space Wolves lists can be easily made within the force org chart.

Amusing non-force org SW armies:
TWC Lord + 3 Units of TWC
All Wolf Scout Army (Easily 6-10 units of Wolf Scouts)
All Long Fang Army (That's what like 6 units of Long fangs for 1000 points)
Ancient Dread Bash army (Bjorn and 3-4 Dreads/Ven Dreads)

I would just take 3 TWC Wolf Lord specced out at 330 a pop. Then just stay out of sight and come in for the kill turn 1. Rinse and repeat.

Look! A list that Nids can win against. I thought of that one actually. With no force org, Herohammer is VERY tempting.

This. If you're going for a TAC list then this should be able to take on most anything:

Rune Priest

8x Grey Hunters (Mark of the Wulfen, Power Weapon, Meltagun, Wolf Standard)
Wolf Guard (Powerfist, Combi-melta)
Drop Pod

8x Grey Hunters (Mark of the Wulfen, Power Weapon, Meltagun, Wolf Standard)
Wolf Guard (Powerfist, Combi-melta)
Drop Pod

8x Grey Hunters (Mark of the Wulfen, Power Weapon, Meltagun, Wolf Standard)
Wolf Guard (Powerfist, Combi-melta)
Drop Pod

6x Long Fangs (3x Missile Launcher, 2x Lascannon)

This assumes the rules allow you to break the 0-3 FOC limitations on elites.

What might be fun is 10-15 (depending on war gear) lone wolves. Its like 10 mini dreads when you give some a few chain fists and TDA. Also your enemy can only kill 1 at a time, each has two wounds, eternal warrior, and FNP. built in.

You just run them up the field and kill stuff in HTH.

You can also put a couple ferisian wolves with the lone wolves. Making them that much harder to deal with.

You're probably pretty screwed if you play a KP game though... If the opponent just doesn't shoot and runs away from the Lone Wolves all game you're going to lose by a massive amount.

@TiB: You can always send them ferisian wolves after those guys. You only need to tie them down.

By no force organization you can have as many choices as you like of any group. My main worry with going hero hammer is every grey knight has a force weapon.

His list as I recall was
2x Psyfleman dreads
Dread Knight
Storm Raven
5x grey knights with daemon hammers

He got first turn through some tricky maneuvering he got Los to njal with a Psyfleman dread and one failed armor save later he was INstant Killed. Storm raven goes flat out and lascannons the predator blowing it to pieces. I fire the other pred at the storm raven two hits and a 1 and a 2 for armor pen. I then try to assault the storm raven with the twc with 20 atks they managed to hit once and that hit needed another six to glance and I didn't get it. Next turn he multi melts the pred it goes out in a blaze of glory. I get into cc with dread knight and do nothing. He hunts down my vindicator and pops it. At this point I concede the game since my twc would have to fight 1k points of gk.

Long fangs are probably the best way to go here. Insane ML counts at this point level which are only going to suffer against TEQ. Maybe find a way to sick in a few plasma cannons (1 per squad for example) and I dont see how you can lose.

Usually these sort of things take place on somewhat smaller tables. 4x4 etc. So I like to try to play to those strengths as well.

What I would probably actually run is two units of three TWC where one model has a p-fist (for S10) one model has a Stormshield and one stock model. Then fill the rest of the points with 5-7 lone wolves.

This way you do have some fast movers and S10 and rending for putting the smack down on most fast moving vehicles. Since unless you put combi weapons on some of the TDA lone wolves your not going to have any high strength shooting.
