Does the mindlock rule apply to the unit or just the servitors within the unit?

JUST the servitors in the unit.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Per the FAQ

Mindlock, penultimate sentence
Change to “If the result is a 1, 2 or 3, the Servitors have
succumbed to mindlock – the unit (including any
characters) may not move (though they may fall back),
shoot or assault that turn (though they will fight
normally in close combat if already engaged).

This means, if the servitors succumb to mindlock, any attached models cannot move, shoot or launch an assault.
Unless the question was do non-servitor models have to test for mindlock, in which case the answer is no.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Okay two seemingly contradicting answers there? The reason I asked was that I read it that if the servitors succumb the the WHOLE unit cannot move etc which I thought this seemed a bit unfair as its just the servitors that are mindlocked, and hence my question.

I agree that it is unfair that the characters cannot shoot, and as a house rule, I would allow them to shoot. However, the unit moves at the speed of the slowest model which means the unit can move 0" (unless it were falling back).
Unfortunately GW does not always work along the "makes logical sense" guide.

The FAQ seems clearly written to me.

Yeah I understand the moving and therefore assaulting. (they cant just leave the servitors behind!) It was the shooting I was mainly referring too when I said it was unfair. So I read it correctly then? They cannot move or shoot or assault if the servitors roll a mindlock.
