Since Eldritch Storm does not require LoS (like say Mind War does) can it be used within a vehicle? Likewise, if it can should it take up the vehicle's shooting phase?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I personally would think it would at worst work like:

A. Able to shoot inside the vehicle, with our without shooting points (since you do not need LoS).
B. It would consume the vehicle's shooting phase, at worst.
C. It could not be used after going flat out, at worst.

But then again, the shooting form a Rhino does not consume that vehicle's shooting phase. So any input?

If Wave Serpents had a FP, then you could use it, however since there are no fire points, you can not shoot anything out of it.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Even if I do not need LoS?

No using of a PSA without a fire point, even if it doesn't require LOS.

It is still classed as a shooting attack, so requires a fire point first.

NO eldar transport has a fire point.

Why doesn't Eldritch Storm require LOS? It's a PSA and I don't see anything that says it doesn't need LOS.

First paragraph on page 28 of the Eldar codex states they dont require line of sight unless noted otherwise, which it is not noted otherwise in eldritch storm

The eldar psyker rules as a whole state that unless otherwise stated the powers do not require LoS. However Eldritch storm was later clarified as a PSA and PSA requires a fire point.

But if it's specified as a PSA, that by definition requires line of sight - hence stating otherwise.

Q. Which Eldar psychic powers are psychic shooting
attacks? (p28)
A. Destructor, Eldritch Storm and Mind War (though
they include a few exceptions to the normal shooting
rules, as specified in their description).

Would guess that is the FAQ you are referring to, and you should read the parenthesis part.

And this is why I play Dark Eldar, cause you Eldar guys are just way too sensitive!(Although it does make your souls taste just a little bit better!)

Right - that specifies that they are PSAs. That FAQ also says that there are exceptions noted in their descriptions.

PSAs specifically state they require a fire point to be used while embarked. Eldar vehicles have no fire points.

What line in the Eldritch Storm description overrides the Line of Sight requirement of a PSA?

The question concerns all the psychic powers, and on page 28 of the Eldar codex is the rules for all the Eldar Psychic powers. The line that overrides the LOS for Eldritch storm is the first paragraph on the page that states "Unless otherwise noted, these powers work as described in the Psychic Powers section of the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook, are used at the start of the Eldar turn, and do not require the Eldar psyker to have line of sight..

Specific overrules general, so in this case, that line overrules the need for a PSA to have LOS.

I quoted nothing about needing a fire point. I stated they dont need LOS. The new FAQ states that PSAs need a fire point, so no, you cant use Eldritch Storm in a Serpent. However, unlike most PSAs, Eldritch Storm does not require LOS, as per the wording of the Eldar codex on pg. 28.

The line on page 28 is in general, Eldar powers do not need LOS, but the power might override. The power specifies PSA. Specific > General.

That was directed toward rigeld. The question stated by dabupp is if you can use Eldritch storm in a Serpent, which is a clear no because you have no fire points regardless of if Eldritch Storm requires LoS or not. If you want to argue the semantics of if Eldar PSAs require LoS or not then start a new thread with that topic, so people know what is being talked about.

I'm not debating the firing point thing - I was addressing the LoS only.

I can start a new thread if needed.

You MUST have a FP to do ANY kind of firing ability. Eldritch Storm is a SHOOTING abiliity and such requires a FP.
