It'll do. 500 points doesn't give you a lot of leeway. Multiple small units (MSU) may serve you better though as it gives you some flexibility in maneuvering and target saturation.

So 4 5-man squads with 1 Meltagun each for the same points. You can keep your units close enough together to support one another and you limit the damage the enemy can do to you. Especially if they are taking fuller squads; they'll only be able to shoot at so many targets.

You could go:

HQ
Rune Priest w/ Living Lightning, Jaws of the World Wolf - 100pts

Troops:
10 Grey Hunters w/ 2x Meltagun 155pts
Drop Pod - 35pts
6 Grey Hunters w/ 1x Meltagun - 80pts

Heavy Support:
1x Squad Leader & 4x Long Fangs w/ 4x Missile Launcher - 115pts

For a very decent, versatile, and powerful 500pt list.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.

"You need not fear us, unless you are a dark heart, a vile one who preys on the innocent; I promise, you can’t hide forever in the empty darkness, for we will hunt you down like the animals you are, and pull you into the very bowels of hell." Iron - Within Temptation

I dont know why really, but im trying to stay away from long fangs, as cheesy and awesome as they are, i just never really liked them, that is why i have the pred, and i wanted to go semi-footslogging a try as a contrast to my other Mech-type armies ive built in the past
