www.game.co.uk/masseffect - somehow Game screwed up big enough that they lost all EA titles for now, including Mass Effect 3. So anyone who has it pre-ordered from Game? You don't.

Probably because Game seems to think that street dates are "suggestions".

This has caused tons of issues recently with DLC and the like, as it has to be enabled on PSN/XBL and it usually isn't until the street date.

Not all that suprising, though sort of funny. Annoying for those that did of course.

Yeah, I passed out £70 for a game...and had to go buy it again. Sorta pissed at this.

what we need to do is go in on a releas day, buy a game [with points], return it for cash value (like £5 less) then go to HMV and get mass effect with the money

Damn it. No its about GAME being two steps away from the crapper, I was really hoping they'd make it till after ME3, but sadly it seems not.

They lost their insurance cover a few weeks back, thats pretty much what killed Virgin a year or so back. If I miss out on the CE because of this i'll be ticked.


edit - well ordered it from both Play and Shopto, just to give me a chance to get one. Zavvi was already down as sold out by the time I saw this post though.

Oh and thanks for raising this Jon, had I not seen it till much later in the day it would have potentially been a disaster.

Aye, I'm thinking I might get a game off them this week and blow all my points on it, as I can't see them lasting long.

I also have one pre-order left with them, but depending on how well shopto is on delivering ME3, I might switch it over, as they also have a points reward scheme. Had never heard of them till this mess up.

Sadly I went down the path of evil and ordered it off Origin, please don't think badly of me

But yeah it's a sad state of affairs for game, had some fond memories of getting games when i down in yonder city, they will probably go mail order if they survive, even then I doubt they would last long.

I've not bought much off them tbh. I would've thought they'd do better if they priced stuff more competitively. I just get stuff off amazon all the time so I can get a few quid off.

GAME have been struggling for a while, but the insurance thing is major, it means suppliers get edgy because they have no back up if you do go under.

As I noted, thats the key reason the Virgin Stores (where they Zavvi by then?) went under, however GAME seemed to think they could carry on okay.

EA had other plans.

Or maybe Game hoped nobody would notice/care, sadly for them they were wrong.

Aye, well they've probably lost me as a customer, not that I'd expect them to last long now anyways.


edit - on a side note, I've just noted a load of games are now in the game of the week section, some with £10 off what they where yesterday. I was considering Battlefield 3 due to DCM interest, but its now only £24.99 on GAME, and several other titles are also cheaper than normal. Seems a fair few of them are EA titles.

Will have to pop on when I get home and use my remaining points before they cancel them. (Which is very likely to happen if they are going down.)

Let's face it GAME is doomed. Ever since the undercut their own in store prices by their website I've been doubtful. Tbh high street gaming stores are on the way out. With online ordering and downloads being cheaper only those that don't realise shop at game.

Well grabbed a game this morning, was going to get Battlefield 3, but it was sold out by the time I got home last night.

Then this morning, it was back in stock, grabbed it and Soul calibur 5 CE, but it was gone by the time I got to the checkout. Heh.

Not surprised mind, GAME slashed it to £24.99 yesterday, so its flown out the door. With the £5 we're sorry voucher and my £2.50 in points I managed to get the Soul Calibur CE for £37 which is nothing to be sniffed at.


Seems Shopto has now also sold out of the 360 Mass Effect 3 CE, so glad I rushed that through yesterday. Phew.

Well it seems Game has until March 24 to find money for it quarterly rent or it will enter into administration, there has been talks of Walmat buying it, but it seems more like that Comet owner OpCapita will
take over as they have offered to buy out Game group lenders' and repay retailer suppliers, even if so they have lost alot of customers and suppliers such as Nintendo, EA, Capcom and Tecmo Koei.
