Hey guys,

So after someone in a topic said it would be cool to have an entire outflanking army, I thought: Let's see what the Guard can do with this.

So I kinda came up with this:

CCS: 150
standard, astropath, medic, vox, camocloaks

Marbo: 65

Stormtroopers: 105
meltaguns x 2

Stormtroopers: 105
meltaguns x 2

Penal Legions: 80

Penal Legions: 80

Veterans: 130
Harker, 3 x plasmagun

PCS: 135
Al'rahem, vox, 2 x plasmagun, meltabombs

IS: 120
Commissar, PW x 2, meltagun, meltabombs

IS: 80
meltagun, vox, PW, meltabombs

IS: 120
Commissar, PW x 2, meltagun, meltabombs

IS: 80
meltagun, vox, PW. meltabombs

A total of 1250 points.

Marbo and the stormtroopers deepstrike and wreak havoc. (And then probably die...)

The Penal Legionnaire are harrasment units. They are used for outflanking.
With their special rules, they can be quite annoying, but not victorious. They serve to distract the enemy. He either has to waste a turn shooting at them or suffer their results.

The Veterans, because of Harker, have the option to outflank and thus will come up from one side of the board or another.

Al'rahem and his blob will come on from one side of the board and try to annihilate what (or whom) is there, before they continue towards the objectives.

Lastly the company command squad...
Now this is a tricky one as this is the only unit on the board at the beginning and they will probably have to suffer for it.
I tried to negate this as much as possible, so that by turn two as much of my army as possible can arrive.
In case that they do survive, they just run around and scream orders at people, hence the vox and tried to rally anyone that runs away.
On the other hand, I'm spending so many points on them, that I could perhaps consider taking another one.

What might be an advantage of this list is that my opponent can't do a lot of hurt on the first turn. (He can wipe out my CCS, but that happens more often than not...)
Also, this list lacks any vehicle, which means that all of his anti-tank fire will be wasted on a Guardsman.

So what do you guys think of it? Good for casual game or perhaps the odd local tournament?
I would like to hear what you guys think.

I think you should find a way to put a heavy weapon on your CCS. If they're behind cover, they're probably going to be pretty static, and dropping a TL lascannon shot on a vehicle wouldn't be a bad option. I'd also try and give them flamers if possible if someone is advancing on them, you can drop a lot of wounds if they don't shoot you down first.

There's a lot of suicide units here, and a lot of KP. What happens if you outflank on the wrong side of the board or if hypothetically someone blocks off a side and you lose an entire unit?

I could see this being fun in a casual game, though.

I could perhaps swap out the penal legionnaires for chimera's in Al'rahem's platoon and use them to tank shock onto the board if necessary. (Such as when one side is blocked off.)
Otherwise the Infantry squads just drive around in metal boxes adding a bit more survivability and firepower.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

It seems like a risky proposition, your units will be coming in piecemeal, and IG aren't known for being the most sturdy army out there without their vehicles. Could work like a charm, could give your opponent easy KP. The dice gods will decide

I haven't exactly thought of it in such a way...

In order to prevent it that all of my units are taken on one by one I altered the list a bit:

CCS: 105
Astropath, standard, autocannon

Stormtroopers: 105
melta x 2

Stormtroopers: 105
melta x 2

Marbo: 65

PCS: 195
Al'rahem, melta x 4, chimera

IS: 115
meltagun, chimera

IS: 115
meltagun, chimera

PCS: 45
Autocannon, vox

IS: 110
autocannon, GL, commissar with PW

IS: 70
AC, GL, vox

Rough Riders: 55

LRBT: 165
lascannon.

It still keeps the shock tactics with quite a score of outflanking and deepstriking units.
Thanks to the Astropath, they have a fair chance of arriving on the board early.

I was thinking of deploying one platoon and the squads in one corner, while putting the CCS, LRBT and Rough Riders in the other.
My opponent now has to chose to either split his army thereby making it very easy for the chimera squads to clean the on which they arrive.
On the other hand, if my opponent decides to focus his entire army on one corner and I arrive on it, it could be quite interesting.
If the opponent attacks the other corner, the one where Al'rahem doesn't arrive, then I doubt it that he still has a lot of chances in getting to the objectives on time.
