Hey folks, I am contemplating having a SW army commisioned to replace my current and I had some general questions.

1. Assembly

A. If I assemble, will the person commissioned clean up any mold lines that I miss?
B. If I assemble, do commisioned painters prefer bolters or other bits left off for ease of painting?

2. Basing

A. If I provide scenic bases (ex. Secret Weapon Miniatures runic mountain bases) will there be an additional painting fee for the bases?

B. Do commission painters prefer I send in assembled models already attached to scenic bases?

3. Painting

A. Are paint recipes kept for future additions to an army?

I think that is about it. Thanks in advance for replies.

1a. Most likely
1b. It helps a lot, so do it anyway, even if they don't ask. It's a PITA.
2a.I would. Not too much, but yeah, definitely fees
2b. Depends, although I would leave them separate.
3a. Yes, I do.

1a) Where possible, yes. I prefer to work with unassembled models for this reason, combined with 1b and 2b.

1b) Yep, where painting is more accessible it's easier and quicker, and you get a better result.

2a) No extra fees. I actually offer a discount on Secret Weapon products as the owner is a friend of mine.

2b) Separate is easier, usually. Depends on the base, mini and/or posing.

3) Yes, generally we can also work to a given recipe. The cost of getting some paints in is negligable in comparison to the cost of the paintwork. If it's a lot of stuff I don't have, I might request additional deposit payments to cover buying the stuff if cash is tight.

1:
A: Yeah, I like to make sure that models are clean before painting, however the fewer mold lines on a model, the less I have to do lol
B: Generally yeah, however sometimes its ok. As a general rule though yes.

2:
A: No fees, since I usually include basing in my prices
B: Separate, since I prefer to paint the bases separately...

3: I woud generally have documented a step-by-step at some point, so its not normally a huge issue for a new unit down the line...
