Hey all, i hope someone can help me.

I am looking to get some "Dead Earth Paste" but i have no idea what this stuff is or if there is a cheap and easy alternative i can get here in the states.

It is to make that desert looking ground that is all broken up. I want to rebase my necrons with it (tomb world style) and i saw it on a youtube video, the stuff looks pretty cool. I'm going to add the link here. Well let me know.

Use a thick layer of spackle (wall joint compound/filler).
Use a hair dryer to make the cracks, or just leave it out in bright sun.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
By thick I mean at least a quarter inch thick.
You can also wet down spots you don't want to crack.

Or use a thick coating of undiluted Elmer's Glue (PVA glue) and then hit that with the hair dryer / water as above.

Hmm, didn't think the elmers glue would crack like that, my experience has been when it dries it looks like scoth tape almost.

As for the spackle would it make the them sit too high on the base or would it shrink down a bit?

Spackle doesn't crack that small. I know, I've tried. A few times, with varying thicknesses. At best you'll have a really thick layer with one or two really thick cracks.

I have a product that does this, and I got it here in the States. I found it at the craft store Michael's for less than $10. It's called DecoArt Texture Crackle.

I've also seen a product called Crackle Paste online, but it looks significantly more expensive.
