Those leaves are so bought. Decent price at around a fiver as well. So much cheaper than alternatives.

Really like the look of the leaves. May pick up a few to use with my wolves.

Anyone know what the leaves are actually made of?

I must agree the leaves look great. I could think of a few projects I could/would incorporate them into.

This natural birch pod material creates realistic looking leaves for many different scales.

Other companies produce much better bases than those.

Those bases are below average, to put it nicely.

The power generator is very nice. Also, that's not a bad price for the Birch seeds as leaves, either.

I think they're just a little round, and yeah, the other pieces are nice.

Bases are very dull - even I could do something like that with some greenstuff.

The power generator is very nice, as are the leaves.

It looks like that's exactly what they did. My issue isn't how they were sculpted but rather how soft the details are. The cobblestones are just round putty balls smashed flat. The grate is just a greenstuff square with a blade pushed into it. No attempt to clean up or otherwise make anything look natural/real world-ish.

I posted it mostly because of the generator which I like very much.

Other companies have sold similar packs of leaves, this is just another alternative.

These bases are not their best, most are very good, esp. those sculpted by Navarro.

Thanks for the thread -- and I'll reply to some of the comments

The leaves are natural birch pod catkins -- and you won't find those in your kitchen. We're testing colour recipes now and should have two mixes ready for the May or July release window. These will coincide with a pair of forest themed DIY basing kits as well.

My thanks to those sharing the love for SWM bases -- although I'll have to agree that the Cobblestone set isn't our best for natural detail. The 95x120mm Flagstone is a better example

The Flagstone series also has a detailing kit on the way in May -- so you can dress them up as you see fit. Broken columns aplenty!

But the Cobblestone were sculpted by Ian Hemmings of Fiendish Fabrications and that style is very popular -- so we're happy to have it.

But with 18 themes for beveled edge bases -- and 10 for round lip -- there's a good selection that includes a lot of things, like the Bone Fields and Blasted Wetlands, with detail and quality that is unmatched on the market.

The "Corpse Field" theme that Navarro mentions is slated for a May release -- and I'm not exaggerating when I say they'll be some of the most amazing bases ever cast. They have the same hollow style of our Bone Fields, so you can add blood effects, but with lots and LOTS! of corpses and bits of corpses. YUM!

Okay, back I go to lurking and sculpting.

Do you have any plans for other vehicles, like other versions of your rapid assault vehicle? or whole new things based on the design?

I love the SWM runic mountain bases, which has crisp, nuanced detail and great casting quality.

I gotta give Mr. Justin respect for addressing the detail concerns with the cobblestone bases. It's refreshing to see a company willing to acknowledge that not everything they make is the most awesome thing ever.

Though... how exactly would cobblestone bases be more detailed?

The MicroArtStudio Cobblestone bases somewhat take it in the complete opposite direction with there being arguably too much detail to the point of being obtrusive.

I love that power generator and will be getting two (at least) !!

The cobblestone bases are a bit jarring but I think that might be because they look like freshly laid stones without the final step of the "sand spread". That's where the installer would pour and sweep sand to pack the gaps between the stones. I expect that "fill" can be achieved by using some gap-filling super glue or even paint.

@Necros We do have plans for additional vehicles - and modifications to the current kit - but need to pay off the first model before moving on. This was an expensive project and the new terrain sucked up the rest of the free funds.

@Polonius --- WHOA NOW! Everything we make *IS* the best thing ever. These Cobblestone bases just aren't the most realistic stone bases we've ever made

But, seriously, I'm perfectly happy to acknowledge criticism when it comes -- especially if there's something I can agree with. It turns out this set has been VERY popular so far even if it's not my personal favorite.

Me, I would have poured a thick sheet of hydrocal plaster, broken it with a hammer, and then carved out hundreds of individual cobbles and laid them one at a time... which is why I hired Ian to do it in greenstuff instead

@Myrthe -- I actually considered doing a sand spread over the finished product, and still might, but that Ian's work is so popular I didn't want to mess with it.

Keep the comments coming -- it's always nice to hear from the community... even when it's not all love.

I've commented on this before, but I really think you should get more pics of your bases painted up. I think they look way better even simply painted than bare resin.

I'm really interested in these products (especially the Blasted Wetlands bases) but I was a little curious about the leaves. They look very nice, but it's hard to get a good idea of size looking at the pictures here and on the website. Does anyone maybe have some pics of these leaves either on a model or with a model in the shot for comparison purposes?

Not only do I have a pic of the leaves on a base -- I have a video!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwY8r01yFzw&list=UUHbWLQSXn0BwByNW-DWBLlA&index=1&feature=plcp

I would like to get more painted base photos -- and will again in the future -- but I've been neck deep in the May releases for several months. We're bumping all of our round lip themes to FOUR 50mm options... and as I sculpted most of those themes... yeah, I'm a bit busy. No painting for me.

And don't worry, the beveled bases will get the same treatment at some point.

I don't normally follow external links. In point of fact, this is the only video I've ever watched off of dakka (and I had to go to a friend's house to watch it). That being said, these look like great products. (I mean the leaf litter, of course, but they all look pretty sweet!)
