My question is can an inquisitor join a unit of gey knight terminators, and assuming he can, can he do it even if armed with a daemon blade... I know in the old daemonhunters codex if an inquisitor was armed with a daemon blade no grey knights would be allowed at all but I cant find anything this time round that says you cant, even if it does seem at odds from the fluff side.

Inquisitor is IC, so he can join any GK unit (normal exceptions for units that only ever consist of single model apply).

Edit: To make things more clear, there are no rules in GK codex to disallow anything like that. You can even make army with Coteaz as HQ and only daemonhosts (Inquisitorial Henchman) as Troops, even though as far as fluff goes, Coteaz is puritan inquisitor who would never allow that...

This is an interesting idea that I had never thought of before, it actually sounds like quite a fun list in a crazy unpredictable way. Although I agree that he is a puritan and abhors the daemon it does hint in the last paragraph of his fluff that he wwants to find soem way of extending his life and one possible way is using a daemon..

Also I guess that, as with the space marine characters in their codex, you can use a special character as a leader in your army but representing someone else and the only limiting factor to this is that you need to make sure that your opponent is aware that your chapter master blah blah is actually using marneus calgar's loadout. So maybe the same can be said in this instance? Where cortez's rules can be used to represent another radical inquisitor with great influence in another part of the galaxy? However I may be wrong and this may be a purely space marine thing...

Essentially the name of the unique model does not matter.

you can call Calgar "High Warlord Nexus" if you want to, that is just fluff.

Just let your opponent know you are using Calgar and you wont have any issues.

Yeah so its viable to all armies, not just space marines.
