Hi guys,

does any of you have a good alternative for the Eldar Harlequin models?

I like the spiritseer and the deathjester BUT I cant look at the regular harlequin models.

so... anyone?

Do you have some kind of hysterical blindness set on by looking at jumping clowns?

If you want any actual suggestions, you need to state why you think they look bad so people don't suggest that.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

What do you find visually offensive about the Harlequins?

I am making an Eldar army out of the old 3ed Dark Eldar (I got a crap-ton already primed and assembled for free) and some of the newer ones (Scourges for Swooping hawks) as a Rogue Trader-style army of Eldar Corsairs.

My first thought for Harlequins was to use the new Wyches, just without any of the "Hellraiser Eldar" additions like the spikes and chains.

So the rogue trader harlequins don't fit because...?

Oh, sorry... I thought it was just plain obvious why I dont like the look of those models...

I dont like them because they look like clowns / mimeplayers.
* I dont like their masks
* I dont like their hairstyle

In the codex, they make it even worse (imo) by painting them in psychidellic colours. But that wont be the problem.

Interesting.. I thought that was all part of the charm and such of those models. Sets them apart at least.
Question, if you don't want clownish what sort of harlequin are you trying to make? Maybe be more specific with the look your trying to accomplish to get better suggestions.

Surely the whole point of the Harleyquins is that they are clowns/ mimeplayers. Which is where the word 'Harleyquin' comes from.

I think he wants them for their rules and game mechanics without their distinctive style.

I feel you Jaap. Not on this particular issue, you understand, since I love harlequins, but I've had my own similar issue with a few Space Marine models. Have you looked into Miraclefish's suggestion? Wood Elf Wardancers would give a more rustic appearance (you could even justify them as being Exodites) and are still doing the crazy kick-flips that we assosciate with harlequins. I'd know what they were the second you plopped 'em down, even if I didn't know you.

Dark elf assassins might do the trick, too. They're a little grimmer and darker, but if you just, say, replaced their heads with regular old Eldar heads, I think you could get a pretty good unit out of them, and still have the 'lithe, acrobatic' look the harlequins evoke.

You could get a lot of mileage out of AegisGrimm's suggestion of using Dark Eldar Wyches, especially if you did some conversion work to make their weapons a little closer to the actual loadout. In the same vein you could probably get some bang for your buck out of Scourges or Hellions.

Should all those fail to tickle your pickle, I offer this as my final suggestion. Hope one of these helps brother!

Yarr!

the Scourges are more like it indeed! ... thanks for the replies guys.

... I dont use them in my lists yet, as I'm fielding a Biel-Tan army right now, so Scorpions and Banshees are doing the dirty work atm.

But my new project is going to be a list with Seer/ranger/harlies...

I think they are all good ideas that are different facets of the same troop type.

-Wardancers would give the impression of Eldar Exodites.
-The new Wyches would give the feel of "ninjas" and assassins.
-Scourges w/o wings give the same feel of Wyches, but the descending from some acrobatic stunt upon the victim.

I like the poses and the armour on the scourges. (I know the harlies have no armour, but ok)

the only challenge is to convert them to make them look less like Dark Eldar and more like sexy-the-one-and-only-Eldar.

A) File any spikes or chains off.
B) Give their flesh some color (rather than painting them goth-hooker pale).
C) Paint their armor one of the seven actual colors instead of black or gray.

No one will ever know where they came from! They should look amazing when you're done. Are you going to start a P&M Blog for your army? Or just post pics of this squad when you get done with them?
