Hey guys, do you guys have a way to magnetize the sideskirts of Panzer IV. I did it for the stugs, it was alright, just that in order to save magnets i only used 4 per stug, meaning 1 magnet on each side. For Panzer IV I have no idea how to do it. Thanks

I would put a strip of ferrous Metal or a strip of Magnetic paper on the inside of the Shutzen, then you only need to put a pair of magnets per side (maybe even one if you are clever with the siting of the piece). The magnetic paper will stick, as would a ferrous metal strip. Saves magnets.

I do this with my turrets, I only ever use one Magnet on the Hull (aligning them the same way so the turrets are all interchangeable).
Then inside of the turret I put a metal disc (stamped out section of a washer for example).

Like so, then it attracts the metal disc in the turret and it keeps it firmly ontop acting as nice pivot.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

Hi mwnciboo, do you know where to get magnetic paper. I would prefer the really thin ones. Also have you ever magnetized the side skirts of your tanks/assault guns.

It looks like this...

And is available on ebay etc. You will need to get hold of it and experiment a bit until you are happy. Once happy then glue the stuff to the shutzen, I would then paint it all to match. I use this stuff to make Fridge Magnets (generally personalised, banter type ones for my friends) just stick it in your PC printer and you can print all sorts. It also makes good masks for doing airbrush work because it's more like vinyl.

Magnetising Shutzen, well I wasn't going to pee on your bonfire, but it's alot of effort for little gain, I would personally just glue the skirts on. Otherwise save the difference on magnets/ paper/ time and buy another pack of PSC and build another platoon with/without them. I am more than happy to help you, even if I wouldn't do it myself. life would be dull if we were all the same?

Well, I might be a little paranoid I guess, I like the looks of the vehicles without the schurzen, but Im mostly interested in late war Germany. So I guess having a sideskirt that can be magnetized would be cool. Anyway thank you for your help. I'll probably pick up one of those magnetized paper sometimes next week.

You could just leave the Schurzen off. A lot of vehicles lost their Schurzen. It is a distinctive feature of late war StuGs and Panzer IVs though.

Schurzen is available as an option in mid war. Just model it on. I've just magnetised the turrets on my Sdkfz 7/1 flakvierling flakwagens because they were a pain to remove and replace the turrets. It's tempting to buy some 3.7 guns to swap out on the fly.

Pro tip: Make sure you have a drill bit the same diameter as your magnets.
