You can only put a single power weapon or a single power fist in the TWC.

I wouldn't bother with the PF in the GH squads. That's 75 points you can save right there.

Also, you can't take multiple special weapons on your TWC. So go 3xSS, 1xPF. I prefer SS/PF, SS, Normal personally. If you went with my loadout, you would save 60 points on the TWC (2xPW 30, 1xSS 30)

That gives you 135.

Use the points to ugprade your WGBL to a Wolf Lord with Runic, Saga of the Bear and a Wolf Claw. That's 80 points. (30 for WL, +25 for SoTB over BS, +5 for WC, +20 for Runic)

Edit: Points were wrong. That gives you 55 left.

At 135pts left over from those reductions, he's better suited to adding a 2nd Long Fang squad than beefing out the 1 character. 4 missile launchers and 5 more wounds will out weight those additions to the WGBL.

With the 20pts remaining give both the Rune Priest and WGBL meltabombs and the Rune Priest Wolftooth Necklace.

At 1500, I would go
2-3 GH in Rhinos
WL on TWC
TWC
Rune Priest
2-3 Long Fangs
Wolf Guard if possible

But that's just me.

@pretre: I see what you mean. That's cool, if he's only looking to use those models then I understand. But it sounded like he was making a shopping list since he sold all his other models.

If I were to run TWC in my SW's I'd probably make something similar to what you've just posted.

A Wolf Claw will serve you better than the Power Weapon. You may also want Saga of the Majesty instead of the Beastslayer for your Thunderwolf Cavalry and Grey Hunters. You may find you have to split off your Wolf Lord at times, and even his Ld 10 can fail. TWC are too expensive to risk them falling back, and they'll be drawing a lot of firepower usually.

Edit: You posted while I was typing! Frost Blade is a fine choice vs Wolf Claw, though the re-rolls to hit against everyone might be more useful than rolling 2's to wound most things.

The Wolf Tail Talisman is probably overkill for him and any unit he'd be in. He already has a 4+ to nullify. I'd take Meltabombs before I take a Wolf Tail Talisman. Also, I'm not a fan of JotWW. Personally I like Murderous Hurricane too much.

Illegal? Or you are in 3 separate units. It'd be too easy for the enemy to pick them apart if you don't have them in the same unit. Popular option is 2 Storm Shields and a Power Fist on a squad of 3. 11 Rending attacks and the 5 S10 Power Fist attacks with two 3++ saves is enough usually. Especially once wound allocation shenanigans are taken into account.

Bog standard. I'm still preferring a Power Weapon over Power Fist myself, or a Wolf Claw. I find I don't need the S8 in combat that much. Shaves a few points, though you have to spend 'em on Meltabombs usually. Still, its good to split up no-save attacks to different Initiative values.

Power Fists are definitely never worth it on Grey Hunters. I have a few Wolf Guard that take them, but its really just overpriced on Grey Hunters. Downgrade it to a Power Weapon or drop it entirely.

I'd just make both units 8 man so your Rune Priest can go where he's needed. Also, I find that if I have a Rune Priest leading a squad they don't need a Wolf Guard leader too so you can save points that way potentially.

Only one squad? Servicable at 1500. Between that and Living Lightning you can hit 3 targets at range though. And that's it. How many opponents do you have where you need to hit more than 3 vehicles? Dropping one Grey Hunter squad down to a base 75 point 5 man (with free Flamer or cheap Meltagun) and spending another 75 on a Razorback with Lascannon could be a smart move.

Better. I'd try to trade the chooser, frost axe and WTN for Saga of the Bear and WC on your lord though, but that's my preference. WC is just that good and SotB keeps your lord from getting killed by the first GK that waltzes by.

Also, take TL-Plasma/Lascannon for your Razorback. Two is better than one.
