These are models I painted years ago during 4th edition. Sadly I can't remember how I painted them so having come back to the hobby the rest of my army might have to go Imperial Fists!

I have forgotten the mixes I used to get that nice blue colour which is really similar to in the official books. Something involving slapping regal blue over the model first, then some other coat (half regal blue and half ultramarines) and highlighting with something else. Also I can't remember how I did the bases. Maybe I glued on some rocks, painted scorched earth (or some really dark brown), drybrushed some lighter brown then finished with bleached bone? I hope someone can tell because I sure can't! But I guess this isn't for questions, just for showing; so here they are.

I have put them in spoilers because otherwise it would fill too much. Here are my ultramarines:

Hey,

Looking pretty good so far. I like the Sergeants face with the blood drips! Good for you to have finished an army!

Hmmm...I had mixed reactions when I saw these. Up close, the paint looks a little thick (especially on exposed flesh) but when viewed at arm's length (like in the last pic) they look really good. And, honestly, I don't generally view other people's minis up close. For the most part, I see them three to six feet away from me, which is probably the range they should look best in. Good work with your freehanding, incidentally!

I agree with JimSolo. A good looking army for gaming. I mostly noticed the very think paint on the white of the up close Chappy mask. White is very easy to get too thick. But again, a good looking table top army!
