I am thinking about making a salamander (or my own custom chapter) bike army list and wanted to know peoples thoughts on using cold ones as bikes. (They would probably be modified to be cyborg like, and still wysiwyg). On that note, how would people feel about terradon land speeders?

As long as you point out before each game that they're bikes, they just look cooler, it's fine.

One of the guys at my LGS has bear cavalry that play the part of Ogryns. No one minds.

As long as it's not to gain some advantage of using smaller or oddly shaped units, it's usually fine.

I'd mount them on biker bases just to be absolutely clear what we're dealing with, but yeah, I've seen similar stuff before.

I would have no problem playing against them, but it isn't very fluffy of you to make them Sallies. They like going slow.

Sure, why not?

But just like Space Wolves riding Wolves is silly, Salamanders riding Salamanders is pretty goofy too!

To be fair, Cold Ones in fantasy suffer from stupidity (very slow movement if failed), so using those models as bikes would be fairly fluffy, it just wouldn't show in gameplay. I'd say sure. I mean, if I ever touch that Space Wolf codex, I run berzerkers on juggernauts as my thunderwolves (I play the book using a Khorne based army), so I'd say 'why not?'. Rule of cool rules. Yes, I intended to make that sound absurd at the end

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I'd be a monster if I said no. Thunderlizard cavalry are the coolest damn thing and I keep wishing I had an excuse to do an army that way.

It isn't that I wouldn't allow you to, I just think it'd be unfitting. As pointed out by Alpharius, it is roughly as silly as SW wolf cavalry. I really think that was one of the worst ideas GW had over the last few years.

But if you really think it was cool, just go ahead.

"We train young men to drop fire on people, but their commanders won't allow them to write "feth" on their airplanes because it's obscene!" (Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now)

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions.

Jesus i was about to do it on my little ponies, for a giggle, just to mock the SW players who actually think its not cringe worthy,
I know my friends wouldnt stop me, nor my local GW

At least yours is no crazier than the SW great wolf wolf priest riding on a wolf, whilst wearing a wolf amulet and a wolf skin on and scanning for enemies through his wolf helmet, so they can be destroyed with jaws of the world wolf. etc

Space Marines riding lizards goes back to Rogue Trader. There was a very brief time where a lizard specifically meant for Marines to ride was released.

On bike bases and with proper WYSIWYG for gear/weapons, yes.
