I have a few models coming in here and there and I have a couple of the acolytes a couple inquisitors yada yada. I'm wondering if the henchman lists see a lot of play if they're worth a look and spending the time to convert things or just buying the models straight out? How much fun are those lists? Do they have more models than a normal GK lists? I'm really interested because I love the Coteaz model and I like the guy riding the throne of judgement...karmazkov or some craziness. (I just want to paint the throne :3) anyway if you guys have seen these lists running about or play them lemme know watcha think =) I'm about to start my foray into the world of the inquisition

Yeah the lsist are possible...
Many people run with DC assassins mixed with various other types of henchmen...
I myself prefer the planet of the apes list as a potential army...

I understand where you are coming from, Gharron. I too think the Coteaz model is the coolest thing since sliced bread. (Which is why he's pulling duty as Captain of my Salamanders army right now...) I've seen people playing with Inquisitors and henchmen, so I know it's viable, I just couldn't tell you specific lists. You should check out the Army List section, maybe you could find some good stuff there.

Planet fo the Apes is pretty much:
Coteaz (suitable monkey conversion of course)

6 squads of as many Jokaero as possible...

???????

Profit!

Seriously though...

Henchmen lists are the most competitve way to go with GK. Sadly most people are going HURR DURR GREY SPESS MAHRENS! Unfortunate really as Draigo-wing and pure PAGK are fairly weak.

Now mixing Henchmen and say...purifiers...that scares me. But until I actually face lists like that I'll continue to laugh at GK.

If by netlist you mean Draigowing or GK in Razors.....those honestly aren't that competitive (Draigowing sucks, actually).

An all henchmen list (chimeras or razors) with purifier/interceptor support is far from a netlist, is actually competitive, and *LE GASP* interesting to play against.

lol that's actually the list I was going to try was henchman - coteaz with the elites being purifiers. Something straight out of the book =) I love the idea of it but I have no idea where to even start =[ I have a few things and I know I need deathcult assassins but I'm kinda at a loss as to what I need for it lol I have a draigowing and purifier spam setup already I just wanted to get this list at least purchased and ready XD I love all the models and coteaz's rules are incredible XD just lost with this bunch ><

I play IG and wanted to start another army without breaking the bank. So I chose GK as many of my guardsman can act as the acolyte warriors. I already have chimeras and Psykers. I bought two squads of GK and plan on using them as purifiers. I don't plan on being competitive, I'm just looking for a way to mix it up a little. My freind who I play has four armies but always knows what I'm bringing.

It really isnt, plus it IS a netlist. At 1500 - 1750 its one of the most competitivef lists out there, but it DOES revolve around:

Coteaz (shock)
5x cheap 3 man henchman squads, Add in smoe melta depending on points. Mandatory psyback (S6 Heavy Bolter)
1xDCA squad in rhino. No need to worry about crusaders, if anything gets to hit back the girls are probably dead anyway
3 x 5 man purifiers, again in psybacks,
3 x psyrifleman

Boring, boring, boring, Army shoots you to death, while possibly moving forwards 6" a turn if theyre feeling brave. In case anything survives you throw the DCA at them.

Yawn.

No that is a netlist and every henchman is a razorspam with either dca or purifier for support.. Theyre not really anymore unique then playing a footguard army. Sorry but there is little in the way of unique when you see coteaz, draigo or crowe in the list since you don't take em if you aren't gonna use their foc abilities.

The enemy of my enemy is a bastard so lets kill him too.

You can use the Bretonian Men at Arms models for the Crusaders; all you need to do is use round bases.

As a discussion grows in length, the probability of a comparison to Matt Ward or Gray Knights approaches one.

Not hugely - there are some fun lists that involve terminators pinning units in combat so he can orbital strike without scattering - and just hope you can pass your 2+ saves

Good call-those models, a SM bare head and a green stuffed cloak and that's a perfect and easy conversion. Crusaders just got cheap!

edit-actually, the Empire Knight heads that have a front-to-back feather row would be better-chop the feathers off, greenstuff cloak, done.

hmm, I've read about thawn I believe...and I like the idea with using the fantasy guys that makes it a TON easier. I ordered my coteaz (got him in metal thank god) and I've gotta get some terminator weaponry...got a lot of work XD need to work on a henchman list I really like.

Do you guys think death cult assassins are worth taking? I posted a few lists but I'm not sure which one I want to go with yet...

DCA are not worth taking.....if we lived on another planet

Sadly this is earth where they are one of the best units

x8 of them+x3 Crusaders+Rad/Psc Grenade Inquisitor/Techmarine can kill nearly anything they touch. Only walkers and the really high T might come out unscathed

I know someone who does very well with a henchman list. I don't know if this is the best setup possible, but he does destroy just about everything he touches.

Here's an approximate list (sorry, I don't feel like pointsing everything out to reconstruct it):

Coteaz
Inquisitor with rad and psycho 'nades

6 Purifiers with halberds (I think they also have psycannons) in psyback

10 terminators to run around with the inquisitors. Mostly halberds.
5X 3 man acolyte squads with storm bolters and psybacks

3X Psyfleman dreads

As nosferatu said, it's pretty netlisty/spammy/boring, if you ask me.
