Hey, just started too collect IG again, Have'nt collected warhammers since 2005 so I am pretty exited with all the new models that have come up!
One of them is the well spoken Valkyrie, what i wonder is what differs from the valk too the vendetta other then 3 three twin-lascannons, anything else? or is the vendetta the anti tank valk and valk anti infantry? And can the vendetta be a dedicated transport?
Thanks!

Vendetta has three twin linked lascannons and only costs a trivial 30 points more. That's literally it, it still has transport capacity and everything, and neither can be dedicated transports.

the vendetta is a gunship. the valkyrie is a transport. If you want a super-chimera, take a valkyrie, if you want a heavy support choice in your FA slot, take a vendetta.
A vendetta really isn't a transport. It can hold models, yes, but the point of a vendetta is to shoot its lascannon, which means that the vehicle is sitting still so as not to compromise its firepower, which means the guys inside are going nowhere. A valkyrie doesn't have this firepower issue, so it can move, allowing it to really make use of the fact that its a fast skimmer.

In terms of differences? As noted, just the lascannons as opposed to the missiles/rocket pods.
That said, if you want an actual *transport* unit, a Valk with rocket pods will usually get you more than a Vendetta as the Valk can move and fire with full effectiveness with rocket pods up to 12" while the Vendetta cannot.
That said, for a general "all comers" unit or a fire support unit, the Vendetta is clearly better. It's a rather silly unit in general. But if you want something that's actually going to be pretty dedicated purely to transport, a Valk is probably the better choice.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

Even as a transport option, the Vendetta is probably better. That way you can deliver your meltavets or whatever you want to where they need to go, then revert to a gunship role if needed. I've tried out both options with my IG and found that to be the one I prefer.
Pretty much the only time I take Valkyries is if I need those 30pts for something else, or if I really need the anti-infantry with the Valk's missile pods.
