So this is my first attempt at making a Tau army list. From what little I know multi-tracker's are a huge part of the list. But I feel like I may have too many of them? Idk, any thoughts and criticism and help would be much appreciated. I haven't gotten any models yet, this is the list I'm thinking about building though.

Broadsides don't really need multi trackers, so you could have one of these instead:
Shield Generator
Advanced Stabilization system
Targeting Array.

You could get some Kroot to camp in forests.
Don't use Bodyguards, just have normal Crisis suit.
You don't need a Multi Tracker on a devilfish.
Your Crisis suits need to have matching guns, Bladestorms are the best all rounders, Helios are the things that kill Terminators/Dreadknights.
I don't think you need Shas'ui fire warriors either.

Very good list though, I run a similar list.

Thanks man I'll take those into account and edit it and repost a new list when I get the chance.

You are right -- Multi-trackers are important, but they are usually reserved for Hammerheads and XV8s.

It might benefit you to look into standard Crisis suit builds. I've listed some of the more common ones below, along with what they are best at killing:

  • Fireknife - PR, MP, MT - Light vehicles, MEQ/TEQ

  • Deathrain - TL MP, Flamer/Blacksun Filter/Targeting Array - Cheap anti-vehicle

  • Firestorm - BC, MP, MT - Light vehicles, GEQ

  • Bladestorm - PR, BC, MT - GEQ, MEQ/TEQ

  • Helios - PR, Fusion, MT - MEQ/TEQ, can be a tank hunter

  • Pick your suits based on what roles you need filled.

If you expect to be playing against a lot of marine lists, I'd strongly suggest not running full Firewarrior squads. These are very expensive and very bad at killing MEQ. You are better off running as few as possible (mounted in a Devilfish) and spending the points on more Broadsides and Crisis suits. A lot of Tau players run one or two units of Fire Warriors at 2k points, and many add Kroot for assault screens or late-game outflanking objective takers.

Ok, so taking into account what armies I will be facing mostly and the advice you guys have given me this is what I came up with.

    Commander Shas'o - 147
    -TL Plasma Rifle
    -Fusion Blaster
    -Bonding Knife
    -Hardwire Multi-tracker
-Iridium Armor (only one in army correct?)

    Crisis Suit x3 - 211 x3 - 633
    -TL Plasma Rifle
    -Fusion Blaster
    -Multi-Tracker

    Fire Warrior x 10 - 100 x2 - 200

    Fire Warrior x12 - 120

    Pathfinder x8 - 201 x2 - 402
    -Shas'ui
    -Devilfish
    -Disruption Pod
    -Multi-Tracker

    Broadsides x2 - 160 x2 - 320
    -Advanced Stabilization System

    Hammerhead Gunship - 165
    -Railgun
    -Burst Cannons
    -Disruption Pod
    -Multi-tracker

    Total: 1987

I have the squad of 12 fire warriors because I had about 120 extra points and I couldn't decide what else to add in to the army.

    Correct on the Irid Armor.

Demote to 'El, add Target Array and drop one PR. At BS5 Twinlink isn't needed. I don't like Irid Armor because it reduces JSJ, which is what makes a Crisis Suit a Crisis Suit.

These are illegal. A suit can have 3 Weps and/or Wep Support Systems. That's it. No Wargear.

*If* you upgrade a guy to Team Leader, then *he* and only he in that unit of suits can gain access to the 3rd column, 'wargear', where there is a 'hard-wired' MT available. So, drop all the TL on the PRs and recalculate your points.

At best, you can do this with a trio:

Team Leader - 3 guns (like your TLPR and FB), hwMT
    #2 - 2 guns, MT
    #3 - 2 guns, MT

    Or:
Team Leader - 2 guns, Target Array, hwMT
    #2 - 2 guns, MT
    #3 - 2 guns, MT

And that is how it is usually done.

I like to Bond large crews.

Why have an 'Ui if you're not gonna bond 'em?

    iBambam wrote:-Devilfish

Having an MT so it can be a 'Fast Vehicle" with only the BC and Drones is a little bit much, IMHO. Most folks just go Dispod.

    iBambam wrote:Broadsides x2 - 160 x2 - 320

Upgrading a guy to Team Leader, so he can get a hwDrone Controler is a good idea, and then two Shield Ds. Bond.

Add a Target Lock so the BCs hose dudes and the RG hits a vehicle.

Much better to let a Shield Drone risk death to a ML, LAsCan, Melta or other STR8 ID. Never get a Shield Gen.

    A.s.s. or TA.

I was more thinking S8 ap2 large blasts (or better) to wipe out all of your broadsides, but fair enough.

And for the Targeting Array, I ALWAYS miss if I don't have TA, and I feel I can't afford to miss a shot.

I've edited my list to make the team leaders of my Crisis teams and my Fire Warriors have a Bonding knife now. I want to try to fit in shield drones for my XV8's but I'm not sure where to cut the points.
