Red flesh, purple shell, green details and orange claw-tips. The tyranids can be surprisingly colourful and still look good.

No........it looks awesome. You know... some times when you have Nids painted up to look like GW you could get the "Cute" idea about them. Now this scheme makes them look gross and utterly evil!

I'm liking it. Personally, I think the green might get just a touch too vibrant at the end of the (What the hell are those things on the back? Exhaust pipes?) rear appendages. The green on the front is spot on, and the very ends of those smokestack things just look a tad too bright. Maybe a darker wash to tone it down or blend it in a little bit? Even then, it's so slight I don't want to say it needs anything, since it could easily be a trick of the light or the camera.

I might try a tone down the brightness of the (Smokestacks) as of right now, im working on its base, and then it will be 100% complete. Thanks for your comments!

A bit too garish for my tastes, the green really jars with the red. I think it would look a lot better if you painted the smoke stacks the same way you've painted the talons at the top of the model. The painting is pretty well executed although there are a couple of areas where your brush work could be a bit neater

I actually had the same thought about making the (smokestacks) yellow, but I thought that the green details, and the green sack on his cannon would look out of place. As for the brush strokes, I agree. It was my first carnifex, and I was very excited to paint it. I think with some touch up though it should look alright.

I'd like to see what your basing work is to complete the model. Swampy theme?

I'm not a fan of the green, its the only thing I don't like about the model. However, you could tie that into the base some how to make i less drastic. Also in a uniform army, green like that can really take that extra step to pull the army together. I do like your model has a more primal, and raw look and pose. A lot of people stay in the mainstream with GW, breaking out of the mold makes hobbying fun!

Thanks! The red came out nice as well as the purple. As for the green, yes the bases are green. Also, as for the pose, my best friend gave me the idea! I really liked the broodlord look that he suggested, so thats what I did. Im guessing the extra chest work that I did was good enough, because no one said it looked out of place. Here is a pic of what the base will look like. (Minus the sprue) The green will cover the entier base.

Care to divulge on how you are doing that base?!?! Btw, love the charred look, the sporestacks are too much imo as well. Maybe fade the carapce color up into a green near the outer rim?

Pretty sweet way to base 'nids.

If I might make a suggestion for your consideration OP, dry brush the teeth with skull white, and then blend the orange tips of his claws with the rest of the claw so its not so red then orange. If you did that this model would be absolutely killer imho (its already incredibly killer )

Yup that is the best description that I can give you is to follow the thread. I do the same thing, but with cork underneath to give it a terrain kinda look.

I will try the drybrush on the teeth. I thought it looked a littel bland with just the Bleached bone. as for the talons, I agree. It was a rushed job, and I will try to blend it better. As for the carapace, it will look just like the carapce on my Trygon Prime. There are lots of WIP pictures in my blog of the trygon, the carapace will have a three tone fade to a light blue on the back of all the indiividual plates. Link for the blog is in my sig.
