First, the free Gear Up 5 is released!

This includes several pieces of fiction and an interview with David Tauzi, the 3d modeler who created the Lancier, Chargeur, and Hussar models. The cover (above) is a Lancier with a Hussar in the background... Also of interest are some point value tweaks to bring older lists in line with the points calculations as done for the recent NuCoal book.

New miniatures are the Chasseur paratrooper and the Jerboa Paratrooper:

Chasseur Paratrooper:

The Chasseur is NuCoal's "Trooper" design, so it is a relatively general-purpose version. It stands apart from the Hunters, Jaegers, and Warriors that fill a simialr role for other factions by the jump jets. The Paratrooper version augments the jump jets with air brakes, reinforcement, and attachment points for parachutes to make full airdrops practical.

Jerboa Paratrooper:

The base Jerboa is a light scout that (like the Chasseur) also has jump jets to allow for bursts of speed and maneuverability. The Paratrooper variant is similarly upgraded to handle the stress of an airdrop. Both paratrooper designs also have an arm-mounted spike gun as as a fiercesome melee weapon option.

Minis are 1/144 (roughly 12mm) and botha re sold as two packs with extra weapon options for $20.75/canadian.

I really love NuCoal's look. It's so...clean and refined.
