Subject: Help needed folks! How to glue resin???

Hey people, just a quick question, what is the best way to glue resin?
I have some iron pattern space marines there are from forgeworld but made of resin, my usual 'fail all else' is a thick model gap fill super glue, but even this doesn't seem to be working.
Any suggestions, i'm at a loss.

Have you cleaned it up? FW stuff is usually covered in mould release.

This, Forgeworld uses a obscene amount of mould release agent so what you need to do is wash the resin parts in warm water( not hot as this will warp the thin resin parts) with dish soap, I usually give them a nice once over with a scrub brush just to be shure I got all of the nasty stuff. If you don't remove the release agent you will have problems like you are having, even if you do get them glued together and primed the release agent will bleed through the primer and destroy your paint job.
Resin loves superglue as it's very porous and bonds like a charm. Also don't use to much glue or you will just have a sticky mess. Plastic glue will not work at all so it has to be cyanoacrylate glue ie Super Glue.
It worse on the larger pieces of resin like the Titans. The first batch of Reaver Titans all had this problem. I also think they messed up on the resin mixture some how as even if you cleaned the parts they would still 'weep' out release agent.

When it is clean, use the same glue as for metal. I use 2 component epoxy glue for both, others prefer super glue.

You should also pin anything larger than a space marine, as the weight of the resin can cause issues and breakages later.
Not so useful in this case, but for any future models or anyone else reading this thread.

It's not 'release agent' they are weeping. Release agent should not penetrate the resin. Using the wrong one can cause the resin to improperly cure, though, and it is this uncured resin that is weeping out.
As with all superglues, the trick is in learning the 'right amount' to use. Scrub ALL FW resin pieces in dishsoap and warm water (not HOT). If this fails, a toothbrush and some toothpaste should take off the shiny coating (toothpaste IS a mild abrasive).

soapy water it is then, i usually just run them under warm tap as i do with plastic, hope i haven't wrecked them.
Also, the mould lines were terrible and took some cleaning up, a lot worst than other FW stuff i'd had.
Do they do the FW casting in England or is that done in China too?

the surfaces your gluing might not be flat, do they need filing down?
washing with water does next to nothing, if your not using soap, theres no point.

They were doing FW casts in Shanghai, but after they taught the locals how to do their stuff, a large amount of "foreign orders" started showing up on ebay - so FW pulled out of there as soon as they could (obligations satisfied).
The locals did not stop producing stuff, though. Their QC seems better, too.
FW is cast in the UK again.

I use JB Weld, or JB Weld Kwik, it is a two part epoxy steel, and works great at both holding the model and filling gaps, but I don't know if you can get it in the UK. I am using it on a Manta, and it, and it works great!!
