I just completed 5 of these last week. A bit of touch-up paint, "dip", flock and seal and you can turn Christmas Village houses into great looking Fantasy houses in almost no time at all!

For full Step-by-step instructions and lots more pictures, check out the Chicago Skirmish Wargames club blog.

These were from my mom's garage, but similar buildings usually go for 5-12 bucks after christmas. See the blog post for more sources.

Columbus, Oh

That would be Enchidox, Hedgehog Hero from Reapers line, Legion of Justice and Caeke..

They have the Hedgehog, an Otter Archer, a Lemur Cleric and a Platypus Mage.. all but the Archer I think are OOP.

Sometime in the next few months, should be a Dragon for the Legion to fight..

That makes me sad. For a minute there I thought that might actually be a GW Fantasy miniature, which would have caused me to start whatever army that thing was a part of, and spam that unit.

Buy it anyway and sneak it into the ranks of whatever troops unit your army has!

Even though it's oop, I've seen it in FLGS's as recently as a few months ago, and limited edition models often become available during Reaper's 25 days of christmas.

Good Luck!

Nice idea.

I've often thought this kind of model would be good for wargames but they are usually quite expensive in the UK.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Yeah, it's the same here in the USA
At new prices, they're often nearly as expensive as wargaming model houses ($30-50 new sometimes!), but they have the advantage of going on massive discount every year after christmas. I wasn't kidding though about how rediculously cheap they get after christmas or how often they pop up at thrift stores.

I had always wondered how those Christmas village houses would look given a little TLC. I may have to snag some next time they come around. Awesome job.
