I was just wondering is anyone has any experience with 3D printers and printing their own gaming models?
Not the industrial ones, the ones that you can buy of the internet for ~500-1000€ or thereabouts.

What kind of resolution can these get to, and can they print reasonable 54mm, 28mm or even 15mm figures og vehicles? What material do they print in, can this material be painting and can it be handled like resin or tin models?

Wow, I didn't think I had this many questions I would appreciate if anyone took the time to answer, even if it's just guesstimation or hear-say.

No. As in, no those internet ones dont have the capabilities you need... well really it depends what you're trying to do, but if youre trying print a model like a space marine lets say, you're going to be disappointed with the results. You could print something of the rough shape of the space marine, but you would have to refine it into a space marine by hand. You might be able to do a 54mm figure as long as you dont expect the details to be too fine. As for material, it varies, ive heard some of them can print in chocolate o.O dont really know, generally they can be handles pretty well, although they can sometimes be brittle.
