I go and open my first new box of minis in like 3+ years and all the bases have dimples, one base is missing half of the side and the flash is terrible on most of the models. WHAT GIVES?! Anyone else have similar issues? I know the finecast stuff is an ongoing saga, but i thought for sure that the normal stuff would be good.

Dimples in the bases is nothing new. Flash isn't a bad thing, it means the mold properly filled in. It also makes finding/trimming the mold lines far easier. So yeah, you got a miscast base and some models that are properly filled in. I fail to see the issue.

i had no idea that the dimples in the base were new. i had bases from 05 that are not dimpled. just wanted to know if this is the case.

It's a more recent development but it's nothing new or worrisome. Since most of us glue sand on and all that, it's generally not noticeable. I think it started around 2008.

If you're talking about the dimple in the middle of the base, yeah, its a 'new' casting process that they've been slowly phasing in for about 3 or 4 years now.

And here i thought it was a timing issue with the mold press not giving enough time for the plastic to set before they pushed them off into the hopper.

Somewhere in south-central England.

If the models are badly moulded you can take them to GW for exchange.

No-one can fault GW on customer service.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
